Do you have a fear of the water? Aquaphobia?

I had a horrific experience when my friend drowned at the beach when I was 6. I have not been near a body of water (ocean, lake, pond, river, pool) let alone swam in one, ever since.

So I only get wet in the shower or when I get caught in the rain. I won't even go in a bathtub or jacuzzi!

I remain very much a "land" person.

When I was 8 years old, my parents forced me to go down a waterslide at this waterpark and they knew I couldn't swim, but they were really persistent.

When I reached the water, I drowned and the lifeguard had to give me mouth-to-mouth. She was really pretty though, so no complaints there, lol, but I've been terrified of water since.

I even took swimming lessons. I'm an excellent swimmer, but I still won't take a swim in a lake or walk across bridges without cables. It used to be all bridges, but I've tried facing my fears throughout the years.

So, I would say I do have a phobia somewhat.

Not so much, but I hate being immersed in cold water. A warm ocean is great if the surf isn't too rough.

No, not aquaphobia... but a bit scared of not washing away in the water body
