And plain sandwich from Subway is over $14.00!!
Is it cheaper to get take out or buy all the ingredients to cook at home?

Trending & News Several factors coming together in a very toxic way:
Inflation due to money printing and, for the first time since WW2, also driven by massive government spending (the latter point will fool policy makers who think high interest rates and/or quantitative tightening will be enough to kill inflation). Also, de-dollarization due to decades of abusing unilateral sanctions and bullying countries that were trapped in the petrodollar system is now being felt. The initial symptom is an inability to have both low interest rates and a strong dollar. Eventually symptoms will include greatly diminished purchasing power.
Globalist neoliberalism: Part of the reason your sandwich is expensive is due to the destruction of distributed, local smallholder restaurants, grocers, and meat packers for the sake of efficiency, to cope with regulatory pressure, and due to predatory lockdown policies pursued by our evil elites to accelerate these trends. Fewer companies means less power to negotiate for both the farmer and the consumer.
Mass immigration: Both Canada and the US are importing massive numbers of people without expanding agricultural land and housing to match the new population. This creates added demand without commensurate added supply. It is evil and we were not asked, but the elites are intentionally impoverishing the population.
Backfired sanctions against Russia: Russia is an agricultural powerhouse. The United States used to be self-sufficient in food production, but we are now net importers. Europe has been a net importer for a long time. By cutting the global market off from Russian grain and the capacity they have gained by conquering much of Ukraine’s most productive regions, we are locking ourselves into elevated food prices in the long term. This has not worked its way into grain prices yet, but it will.
The tank only takes 16 oz? Must be an AWFUL SMALL tank! They could save a tone of money on gas if they could just take the tank with them to the gas station and fill it up and then put it back in the car! Or, just take a 20 oz. glass and fill that up and pour it into the car.
Anyway, I keep telling people, the reason we HAVE the 2nd Amendment is EXACTLY for cases like this!! It's there to give UIS the power to oust a traitorous dictator of a president and replace him, who someone better!! BUT, NOBODY seems to want to do that!!
Don’t worry, trump will be in jail aoon
Soon
@Hannajenky For what reason, having a tan?
for failing to pay his taxes and for purchasing a gun illegally... kinda like Trump and Rittenhouse have done... not that there any difference between him and them, though... right?
@Sabretooth Dream on, snowflake!!
tisk! conservatives are the snowflakes that there is! y'all are always bitching about something petty! ya freaked out over over Micky Mouse, ya freaked Mini Mouse, ya freaked about a candy wrapper not being sexy enough... pretty sure than I'm some things.

@Sabretooth Didn't you get your crying towel and puppy, yet?
no... sadly, that all went to her: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFNML3MwdcU&t=140s
It is all good. Things are not expensive. However, they have counterfeited so much money (printed money backed by nothing), that the money is not worth much.
100 years ago, gold was $20 an ounce. Now, is a hundred times that and it hasn't gained any value. 100 years ago, common labor was $1 a day. Now, it is a hundred times that and it hasn't gained any value. Therefore, based on the value of a dollar 100 years ago, the dollar is only worth a penny. So, if will help, don't call them dollars, call them pennies. AND, buying a Subway sandwich for 14 pennies is a very good deal.
I think your friend isn't being honest with you or at the very least greatly exaggerating. I just looked it up and the Ford Focus has a 12.4 gallon fuel tank. If he said it costs $50 for a half tank (6.2 gallons) then that means he paid $8.06/gallon of fuel. That is more than $2/gallon more than the most expensive prices in the country (California). So he is either BS-ing you or he is a sucker and way overpaid.

Gas prices in Florida are about the same as they are here in New York and 50 bucks would fill my tank on my car so maybe your friend was using premium instead because that seems pretty expensive for a half a tank. Subway sandwich is probably around the same as it is here and price so just getting a foot-long sandwich by itself I think it’s like $11 so forget about getting the combo. I’ve been bringing my own drinks everywhere now because of that and sometimes bringing lunch.
It has always been cheaper to cook at home unless you buy expensive ingredients. And when costs increase it's because of disruption in the production or transport of goods. Or it's just companies increasing prices because they have an excuse and they wanna make more money. You're almost 70 and don't know anything about how the economy works or where the shit you buy comes from?
Your friend is exaggerating. 8 gallons (not ounces) at $50 would be around $6.50 a gallon. In the US, the average cost per gallon is around $3.50. Maybe he bought some snacks in addition to the gasoline?
@AviatorTom
No, we have really expensive gas ⛽ where we live.
The gas companies. For all the bullshit, Biden hasn't done much not to mention that the prices started going up under Trump. And before some idiot starts with me about the Keystone pipeline... That oil wouldn't have been compatible with most vehicles, anyway--only diesel.
That's completely false. Trump reversed Obama and opened up oil leases that Obama had shut down. This resulted in the US being energy independent for the first time in 50 years.
Among the 42 executive orders that Biden signed his first day in office was to cancel those oil leases and make us dependent on foreign oil again. Prices doubled within 6 months. And just 6 weeks ago, Biden declined to renew another big group of oil leases, and took full credit for it, with the predicable result that we need even more foreign oil, which drove up prices.
Guess what the Biden family's largest investment is in? If you said "foreign oil companies", you get a gold star.
And now we are on the brink of global war, after expending a huge percentage of our munition stores in Ukraine. Guess what political instability does to oil prices?
That rise started in May 2020. Between the first week of May 2020 and the last week of December 2020, oil prices had tripled... I'm no history buff... but, I'm pretty damn sure that Trump was still president at the time. the reason oil and gasoline prices rose is that the economy started to open back up from the Covid-19 shutdowns. we were also independent under Obama, as well: www.cnn.com/.../index.html . and what's more, the US never stopped importing foreign oil: the US never stopped importing foreign oil.
the US never stopped importing foreign oil
stupid coping and pasting got fucked up: www.cnn.com/.../index.html

Worldwide oil prices did indeed rise, but US oil prices didn't rise as much, and we were also on-track to have lower oil prices due to the Keystone pipeline being able to move oil from Canada to the US much more efficiently. That's another thing Biden killed his first day in office.
Yes, the US continued to import oil, but it also was bringing more production online (this is a PROCESS - you don't just flip a switch and start pumping), and the percentage of imported oil had declined significantly. Trump also completely filled the Strategic Oil Reserves, so that the US would have oil in an emergency. Biden then sold off all that oil to artificially lower gas prices in response to the huge increase in oil prices as a result of his canceling those oil leases on Inauguration Day. The SOR is currently at 15% of capacity - no where near enough for any emergency. But who cares? As long as people didn't blame Biden for the consequences of his actions, that's all that matters.
@MrOracle Yet many experts agree that moving ahead with the pipeline wouldn't have prevented U. S. gas prices from climbing to a record high. Expanding the Keystone would have increased global oil production by less than 1%, an amount, they explained, is "almost negligible. www.google.com/.../ not according to the fact checkers: www.google.com/.../
Your "experts" are morons. Pipelines are for MOVING oil from one place to another, and pipelines are the cheapest, safest, and most efficient way to do this. A pipeline itself does nothing to increase PRODUCTION of oil (that was already happening independently), it simply makes moving the extracted oil from the oil fields to the refineries much more efficient, reliable, and safe. Instead, we are stuck moving that same oil via trucks and trains, which is more expensive, has a much higher chance of spilling, and is more susceptible to transportation problems, such as bad weather, damaged or closed tracks, closed roads, etc., all of which increases the cost of refined oil products (gas, diesel, etc.).
These "experts" didn't lie - they just made a completely irrelevant statement (that a pipeline won't increase production) in order to create a narrative that most people won't question. But people who understand how oil works will immediately understand that their statement is meaningless. It's like saying that putting solar panels on your house won't make your water bill cheaper. That's true, but it's also meaningless, because solar panels create ELECTRICITY, not water.
@MrOracle NEC Director Brian Deese suggested stated much the same: www.google.com/search ''safer, reliable and cheaper'', huh? not according the these: financialpost.com/.../keystone-spill-cleanup-costs-480-million . but, this debate is pointless. the pipeline was projected to be finished by 2030... we'd still have the high gas prices that we have today.
Yes, but the Keystone was just one of many projects that was canceled - and the best-known one because it also came with a huge number of jobs.
Also, try adding up the costs of oil clean-up from the many train derailments and truck crashes, and that amount will seem like pennies. The difference is that the media is motivated to get people to be against the Keystone (because it will mean less money for train and truck operators), and they're protecting those industries, so they rarely even report on truck and train problems.
Do you remember the train in Ohio last year? That was a rare disaster that got coverage, but oil spills rarely get any coverage unless they can blame a pipeline.
@MrOracle about 50 permanent. the rest of those projected jobs would only last for a year or 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzM5rSjlUXU everyone gets blamed for that. no one denies that Buttigieg was a bad choice. we also had Republicans vote against infrastructure... in spite of the fact that we're still using materials on the rails from the 1800s... that likely doesn't help, either.
That's what happens when you raise the minimum wage. Costs go up across the board.
A couple of weeks ago gas around here was close to $7 so I can see how 7 or 8 gallons would be $50.
@LiamJHayden
Thank you for your opinion because my friend wouldn't lie to me. I saw on the news the price of was over $7.00. I guess it depends on where you live.
A cheeseburger at my favorite restaurant is $1.93
Every failed empire debased their money. It is not prices going up, it is your money becoming worthless.
What scale model was that Ford Focus.
Can’t believe any of those still exist!
It's always less expensive and healthier to buy the food and cook at home.
Mainly the already super rich guys.
Biden economics. You get what you vote for.
Cooking at home is always less expensive
what city is that, new york?
