Wellll.. Yes, I can... but not in the way you might mean by this question lol. Before my parents allowed me to get my driver's license, my dad took down to a parking lot at the beach on a cold day when there weren't many people there. He got out the jack, took the tire off the car, put the jack back in the trunk, told me to put it back on and went over to sit down on a bench. I made a big deal of taking the jack out of the trunk, not putting it together, but looking hella cute in my short skirt and crop top... a real modern day princess... just standing there. Almost immediately, along comes this knight on a white horse and puts the jack together and the tire back on the car for me. Voila! Tire change completed. After I thank him profusely, he leaves, feeling good about himself (me feeling good about him, too!), my dad comes over and says Oh, no, no, no, no, little girl, that's just not gonna fly if you want to get your driver's license... So, off goes the tire, back in the trunk goes the jack and back to the bench goes my dad. Sighing, I get the jack out of the trunk... Whole thing repeats. After the 4th time that morning, by dad comes over and says Ok, little girl, let's go home... You know how to change a tire. And ya know what? He is still right about that to this day. Silly Dad to have ever doubted me!
Barrr-Uum-Pumm! Hilarious, I love it! 😂
Well I can't plug a hole, since i’ve never been taught, however I wouldn't want to. I don’t trust plugs, I only get patches. However I can change a tire! That’s probably the first thing my dad made sure I could do. After building my first Jeep with my dad, and him making me assemble the engine, I’m pretty good with mechanical issues, when it comes to vehicles. But he still made sure I could change a tire in the driveway, should the need ever arise!
I've repaired a tire once, because it was a holiday and everything was closed. I've changed a tire at least a half dozen times. Tires these days don't seem to go flat nearly as often as tires from 15-20 years ago though, so it's been a while.
They do last a lot longer… but screws flatten em just as well lol
I can change a tire. I've done it before, fortunately the last time was 10 years ago. I can plug a hole but I prefer taking it to a mechanic who can properly plug the hole from the inside and install a patch
Patches are better but plugs work well
@charliefretz329 The best is a combination plug and patch (looks like a T) that mechanics use. They pull the plug through the hole from inside the tire and glue the patch part to the inside of the tire. Ensures no more leaks.
Have to take the wheel off though. More work. I agree it’s better but never has a plug failed me

You bet. I carry my impact gun and tire inflator in my van, along with a puncture kit, so a screw or nail hole is quickly fixed and I'm back on my way. Obviously changing the tire is more work on a 250 (8-lug steel wheels), but the impact gun does a lot of the work and makes it reasonably fast. At home, I have a nice beefy high-rise, low-profile floor jack, but it's too big and bulky to carry it around.
I actually end up changing tires or fixing tires for other people once or twice a month on average. People are usually shocked by how fast I can get them back on the road. But some people are crazy, and their stuff is WAY too far gone to save.

This guy was towing a trailer with two wave runners on it, and he had a blowout (almost certainly by not having enough air pressure in the tires), so he put the spare on, which you're looking at. Only he put the lug nuts on backwards - flat side towards the wheel instead of the tapered side - which allowed them to quickly shake themselves loose. And then he drove like that for 40 miles. If you look closely, you'll see that there are only 3 of 5 lug nuts remaining, and the studs have worn big enough holes in the wheel that it could be removed with the nuts still in place. The studs were also worn 2/3 of the way through, so they were about to break off. And all of this generated so much friction heat that it caused the grease to boil and the wheel bearings to completely fail, which is why the whole wheel and tire is covered with bearing grease. You wouldn't believe how loud the clacking noise was - we could hear him coming when still on the freeway when we were at the gas station.
He was "hoping" that he could drive it the 60 miles into Sacramento, but I told him that another mile and he'd lose the wheel entirely and would be riding directly on the axel. I guess I understand why some people don't work on their cars - they're really not equipped to do so. A simple thing like putting the lugs on backwards very quickly cost this guy about $800-1000 in repairs to this trailer, not counting two new wheels and tires.
Good lord! lol
Teaching moment though, and learning moment for him
He wasn't really in a mood to learn - he was super embarrassed in front of his wife and teen son, especially once I figured out how it happened (that he'd put the lug nuts on backwards). You could kind of tell that he was a middle management office worker who made enough to live quite comfortably and have some nice toys (the wave runners weren't cheap), but was also a guy who hired handynen and mechanics and contractors and really never did any physical work himself. He was about 50 and had really no mechanical common sense, which even a small amount of experience would give you.
It still surprises me how many middle age men can't change a tire. Another guy, maybe 60, pulled in to a job site as I was leaving hoping to get inside the business for help, but the business wasn't open and I definitely wasn't allowed to let strangers in. I offered to help change the tire on his midsized SUV and he didn't think he even had one. He didn't know that the spare tire was under the bottom of the rear of the truck, and was even more amazed when I pulled open a hatch and pulled out the jack and the handle to lower the tire. What would he have done without help up in the mountains?
That kinda thing really makes me wonder. And most guys that I ask about it say their dads weren’t around or wouldn’t help, but a little self motivation goes a long way, especially with todays access of information only a pocket grab away…
I know guys who can’t even install lightbulbs
I can't buttt the internet can probably teach me how and from what I've seen mechanics are easy to seduce for free LOL jk just playing with your dirty gag update to the question
Right lol 😆
Yes, I can do both. With the right equipment I can also mount and balance tires.
I’m impressed. . . once again!
Skills every operator should know! Awesome 😎
I can change a wheel (not a tire, as i don't have the equipment for that) As for plugging a hole? Only by using spray foam that will just about get me to a garage!
Spray foam is terrible lol
I know but I'm not a mechanic! I have helped rewire a house though lol
I know how to do both... if I have to
and for some odd reason, I do like to change tires, lol...
Seems like plugging a hole is rarer yet. The tire shop refused to fix my flat and only wanted to sell me a new tire… $5 later I fixed it myself and was back on the road, but I was thinking about how hard life would be if someone didn’t have that skill…
I always enjoy fixing things
@charliefretz329 it depends on how large the puncture is and where it's located as to whether or not the shop can (or will) plug it. If the puncture is larger than 1/4 inch, it's usually considered non-repairable. Also, if the puncture is too close to the tire shoulder, most shops can't or won't repair it. This photo shows what is considered the pluggable area
Screw hole only. No big deal. I prefer the inside patches but I’ve never had a plug fail
No biggie. $5 for 5 plugs lol
Just glad I’ve been blessed with skills in life or damn it would be hard.
I definitely abstained of any jokes...
lol 😆
I've always wanted to try putting the tire back on the rim with the 🔥trick.
It works…
I've seen it done. 😎
I am not a handyman but plugin a hole sounds more appealing to me..
Hoo boy lol
I am honest lady 😳
As am I lol
I worked a summer as a tow truck driver and I've changed a few flats before. Never had to plug anything as people typically had a spare tire. They were able to check and see if they could plug it once they took it to the shop.
Yep.
I can do both, AND MORE!
I am a multi-talented man.
Oh 👍 😎 💪
With the new cars coming without spare tires anymore. Plugging tires might be a good skill to learn.
Definitely!
I can change a tire. My dad taught me how to plug a tire when I ran over a screw, but I've never done it again. I'd rather just replace it
Ah, the “Sir” part of your name… 🧐 Mr. Moneybags 💰 lol
For me it was $300 or $5…
I just don't fully trust it lol
I’ve done it many many times.
I asked my dad to teach me how to change a tire. So I should be able to.
I haven't had to do it yet though.
I never had to change a tire 🛞 and I hope I never will have to
I’d teach you, as long as you don’t hit on me lol
Kk 🙂 come on over and I’ll show you the ropes
Just an old sailor saying lol don’t worry
Yes, both.
Dad taught me and my brothers well.
He even occasionally tested us if we all can do both.
My dad made me change the tires on our car since I was like 12. I don't even drive a car now but I could still do it.
I could do either, but would call AAA and let them do the dirty work.
Last time I had to use roadside assistance, it was a 5 hr wait
Yes I can do both, I have an ARB kit, used it on friends car in the past.
I once changed a girl's tire and then plugged her hole.
I can fix anything, and if I can’t fix it, it’s not meant to be fixed
Yes, but I do not like the little jack that came with my truck.
Yeah. I'm a boy, it's what we do.
Oh yeah 😎
I've done both.
Neither but as I don't drive
Not really
You need to learn!
I took you for a self reliant kinda gal
No, I do not think so
Indeed
only change the tire
Done both
I can plug and unplug a woman's butthole
Gross
Hey now... at least i don't put it in my mouth right after i take it out like many guys do, or ask her to lick it right after taking it out.
I’m not into buttholes 😷 💩
Okay "jiffy-lube" guy got it
🤮 🚪 🚶♂️
GAG is amazing.
Yes to both
