1 yWhen I moved into our house we had no mouse problem. Our first week here I noticed a sizable indigo snake near the foundation vent. She was a beauty I stroked her skin to get her attention and she zipped back under the house. I understood why there were no mice and no other snakes in the vicinity. Problem? We have cats and I think they may have had some interaction with the indigo because she disappeared. The mice showed up and nothing could get rid of them. We could keep them out of the cupboard by using mint oils which they hate. The other option was leave nothing in cardboard. If you put cardboard boxes in your cupboard the roaches will feed on it and the mice will have easy access. Our solution was simple we bought tupperware storage containers. for everything it Worked. Most of the things that you buy in cardboard boxes have a plastic lining. with a minimum of air in the liner. Deflate it and put it in a Storage container. No Mice Minimize food sources, no standing water in the sink.

1 yYeah, for about the past 20 years. Never had ANY critters in the house until the mid `90's or so!! Since then I've had to deal with mice, ants, tiny white worms, microscopic red ants, termites, fruit flies and phorids. We've also had rabbits in the yard and a kind of plague of ladybugs on the back wall of the house and numerous pairs of mourning doves nesting and breeding in my bedroom window. None of those last 3 was a bad thing, though. They weren't doing any damage to the house. I've also been dealing with poison ivy the past 20-some years whereas I never even SAW it before then and had no idea what it looked like!!

1 yOh, we did. We're kind of rural and after being gone for a couple of months, we came home to find out that our house had been overtaken. After a long trip home, we were in the living room watching a movie when this little critter just walked out from under the tv stand and casually strolled across the floor right in front of us! At the time, we had 17 cats, so we brought 3 of our best mousers in and they started cleaning the house out. But it was so bad, we also set traps. Over the next 2 weeks... we caught more than 20 mice in the traps and the cats came up with 35... All inside the house!! Then we had a cleaning service come in and deep clean everything. But honestly? I just wanted to move.

An army of cats and hedgehog family hunts in my garden at night, wild birds like red kites, magpies and different species of crows hunt at day. I've seen several rare adders which are deadly poisonous, but those voles remain there. Voles love fresh fruit tree roots and I have lot of sweet cherry and apricot trees in my garden.
I could poison those animals but it's not a long term solution. Removing tree were an option, but it seems trees don't suffer much with exception of very young trees. Maybe a stoat as pet could help but those animals need ton of attention.10 Reply

AskNo, I've never experienced a mouse problem in my house. Luckily, I've always lived in places where we didn't have to deal with such issues. If it ever happens, I know it can be quite a challenge, but with the right measures, it's manageable. 😅🏠

1 ySince you decided to rhyme your title, I thought I'd write a little poem about it
In tiny holes and cozy nooks,
Live little mice with clever looks.
Through secret tunnels, swift they scurry,
Nibbling crumbs in quite a hurry. In grand old houses tall and wide,
People sit and chat inside.
By fires warm, they laugh and dine,
Unaware of tails so fine. The mouses squeak, the houses creak,
At midnight’s hour, they play hide-and-seek.
Tiptoe here and dash away,
Dancing ‘til the break of day.Though houses stand so firm and tall,
And mice are tiny, soft, and small,
Together they share space and time,
A quiet tale, a silent rhyme.20 Reply2.9K opinions shared on Other topic. No infestations, but the odd mouse or vole has gotten into our house a few time in the 23 years that we have lived here.
We live on 30 acres in a rural area, so there is plenty of wildlife around and lots of mice and voles in the garden. But our cats keep them under control.10 ReplyYes, me and my dad did when I was still living there. He set up like five mouse traps and he caught like 3 mice. My cat killed over a dozen. Eventually he got em all he was a pretty damn good hunter. If you have are occurring pest problem a cats not just a pet, it's an investment. Why do you think farmers keep barn cats? It keeps rodents out of the animal feed.

it usually in the kitchen or bath room where your drain lines are then make sure that hold where they go through the floor is sealed.
You have to use a lot of at least 2 times a day under the sinks but they hate that smell and they will leave within a weeks time or sooner10 Reply- 637 opinions shared on Other topic.
1 yYes, once. I power washed my deck and I guess they were under it. They found a hole that was not plugged and got into the house. My then wife and I were watching TV in our family room, and from the corner of my eye I saw the cat doing something. Then this mouse goes running across the floor. Not cool.
I got a few traps. I also got that expanding foam and filled the hole where they got in. In the end, there were 5 I think. This was back in the early 00's. The traps got them all.

u 1 ynot quite... not me
but a couple of my very nearby neighbours are older couples, who are not the most dedicated to keep up with their gardens and stuff (for understandable reasons)
then there's that other neighbor who just doesn't care...
however, I got three cats and doggo, so... rodents stay away10 Reply
1 yWhen I lived with my parents we did occasionally see a mouse in the house. But their stay was short lived because our car would catch them and get rid of them. My parents lived in the country near a field so luckily there weren't more mice issues.
00 ReplyIn the house? No. In the garden? Sure... When I lived on a lake they use to come up from the water to the yard and steal my vegetables. Now that I live on a farm, there are random field mice and rabbits about to cause chaos, but the snakes hunt them the dogs deter them from coming to the house.

1 ymy mom was living on the outskirts of the city, close to the fields and forest... so every year, mice from the fields were looking for a warm winter home :D
the problem solved itself in the moment when I took a small kitten :D10 Reply4K opinions shared on Other topic. Used to have one, then I started feeding them poison..
Following which I found out Rat Poison is bad for Owl and Cats so I stopped doing that..
Now I Just Smash them with Badminton 🏸 Racket kill them manually.. It's gruesome, but I cannot tolerate Infestation in my house. I am not killing them outside , but not in my house!..

1 yI've had pet mice.
I've also fed mice to other pets.
Wild mice aren't a problem unless you own a grain farm or are a slob, it gives the cats excersize and the only places I've lived that had them it was 1 mouse that didn't stay long.
So I guess no.00 Reply 13K opinions shared on Other topic. I have a summer house that i did not visit in 2020 because of Covid. The next year it was taken over by mice. There were dead bodies all over the place. I had to throw out the microwave because they turned it into a mouse hotel. We got rid or mattresses and a sofa and I had to cut a piece of drywall because they were in the wall.,

1 yYes, I've had mice in the basement on and off for as long as I can remember. They come and go. I get them to go by removing all the possible food sources. Used to store food in the basement and that's what attracted them.
What I ended up doing is getting some new garbage cans that have really tightly sealing lids and store the food in those. They can't get into them so they just decided not to come by anymore.
00 Reply 5.1K opinions shared on Other topic. I've only had mice once. I wouldn't call it a problem because I got rid of them pretty quickly. The trick is to get rid of them before they breed. Or so I've been told. When you put out traps. Put out either cheese or peanut butter on the bait tray and wind thread around the bait to ensure the trap gets sprung by the mouse. If you just put the bait on, the mouse may get the bait off without it triggering. The thread forces him to work at it harder.

I lived in an apartment where I had a couple in my kitchen but traps made quick work of them.
00 ReplyYes I occasionally have mice in my apartment. They usually show up in springtime, always in one particular room. They must come from the neighbour on the other side of the shared wall. I aggressively trap them and the problem usually recedes after a week or so. It is a real pain! Dirty little beggars!

1 yOh yes! I live in the country and mice always are finding their way into my house. I keep multiple traps spread through the house, don't believe in using poison. It's an ongoing battle but that just part of country life.

1 yYeah, had a little infestation almost a year back because the Kitchen was getting renovated, and the walls were left open.. Not to mention the back door didn't lock, so they were sort of free to get in..
