He said love you bye then took it back?

my boyfriend of three months and I got drunk together and when I had to leave he said love you bye. he has never said that before so I was taken back by it and was like 'wait what?' and he said 'nothing' so I asked him again what did you say. and he was like, I said love you bye but I didn't mean it that way I say it to my parents too (which he does). so I said oh OK and then he was like sorry I'm drunk. does this mean he loves me? or he actually didn't mean it. I don't know if I should bring it up with him later or ask him.

It's hard to say in this situation, being he says it to his parents out of habit. Then on the other hand, people say things that they are otherwise too shy to say when they are sober. One thing to keep in mind, "love you bye" & "I love you" are a bit different. I'd rather hear; "I love you" from someone I love. But if you don't love this person, then no big deal. Actions speak louder than words. So if he really loves you, you will feel loved by him. Loving someone is an ongoing state of being. I love without ceasing. I'm always wanting to do something to make her feel special and cared about.

very true. I'm not sure if it would be appropriate to ask him about it when he's sober? or just leave it at that. his actions show that he is willing to do anything for me and always makes me feel special.

Nah, don't back him into a corner with this one. If you love him and want to be loved by him, just say it to him. And for sure, if he says it to you, you should reply back the same if you do in fact love him.
