Why a guy won't stop staring?

I work with a shy guy, there was mutual attraction but nothing happened between us. About 6 wks ago I text him and asked him out, he said he wasn't interested, and my coming onto him made him feel uncomfortable so I apologized and have moved on.

What annoys me though is since then he won't stop staring, is trying to get my attention, always smiling and waving etc.

As he said I made him feel uncomfortable I now don't even pay him attention at all, don't smile or acknowledge him, and sometimes completely ignore him.

Why does this bother him so much?

Did he actually text "Sorry, I'm not interested in you"? That's very surprising for a shy guy - as a shy guy myself I wouldn't even dare text that to a girl that I wasn't interested in, let alone saying this to her face.

If he did actually write out very specifically that he is not interested, then he's probably looking at you because you look funny, or you really look like some relative of his or he thinks he knows you from somewhere etc etc etc.

That's the only rational explanation I can come up with.

But if he didn't explicitly write out "not interested" but hinted at it, then it's only because you read him correctly and that he's shy and thus felt really uncomfortable and like he was cornered; and didn't want to admit he had feelings for you because you hadn't admitted to him that you have feelings for him. If a girl asks us shy guys if we like them - and they haven't said anything to us if the girl likes us or not - then we will try very hard to not answer that question with a "yes, I like you!" ...stupid I know, but hey we are males and we are shy :)

No he didn't text that, I just assumed it as he said I made him feel uncomfortable.

Thought so, as many girls are really inclined to read between lines ;)

But us shy guys are really not that different from shy girls, you just have to get to know us first if you want us to let our guard down.

Chances are that he wants to move slow and get to know you gradually

I'm having the same problem with a girl I'm avoiding. Who knows maybe he lied about not being interested or is to scared to admit he likes you.

It sounds like he feels more comfortable when he has to go out of his way to get your attention. The fact you make him nervous, tells me he thinks your out of his league.

He's an idiot for making a girl feel bad about making a move, when so many questions on this site revolve around guys wishing girls would make moves or be more obvious. I'd start making annoyed faces at him

I give him the bored look, and he still tries to be nice...dont know whyy he wants to speak to me and smile if I make him feel so uncomfortable?
