As for the other stuff:

I sing out loud when I think no one is listening, if the song is good. I'm a terrible singer.

Ignore friends and family? No. I've never done this. Of course, arguably, I've never been in "official" kind of love. I mean, semi silly goofball shmoopy crush stuff? A little bit, yes. Have I gone 6 months in a happy healthy relationship where I'm feeling the love? No. If love is a choice, then yes, some kinds of love, sure. But "real" long lasting romantic love? No. But to be fair, I probably wouldn't want to ignore my friends and family, unless they acted horribly toward the girlfriend (repeatedly). I always hated how (usually girls) drop me as a friend if a shiny new boyfriend comes along. don't exist. They drop off the face of the planet. I hope to never do that to my real friends or real family.

Smile 24/7... maybe the first time I had a girlfriend. Second time, I smiled probably less than normal, as I wasn't always so happy with her behavior toward me or others. I don't smile more when I have a crush... So jury's out on that one.

Obsessive? Hmmm. I doubt in a creepy desperate way, but I probably focus on them more. I don't think they ever became everything I talked about. I wasn't always bringing them up in conversation.

Care more about appearance? I think these happened to be more where I as more careful about that anyway.

Overthink. I usually do that when I'm not in love or crushing, I just do it about other things.

Go blind? I think these girls appeared more attractive when I was dating than after (or before).

Based on the symptoms, I'm in love with... work, maybe?

3. this ones a little mixed! I can smile when I'm diving in memories of us most times but it certainly doesn't last all day haha.

At different times three of my friends have done the disappearing act once getting a boyfriend. The first one to do this has gotten a lot better since she's had other relationships since her first boyfriend. She knows how to balance her love life and social life. The other two keep repeating the same actions and never learn.

So last year at Thanksgiving I stayed home because of class while everyone else in my family went to chicago for Thanksgiving.
I stayed up two days, slept the next, stayed up two more.

How long do you think infatuation lasts? I mean what if you get to know someone and like them for two years and still like them not for their looks but for who they are and how they make you feel. Is that infatuation or love?

@lolababe12 Infatuation depends on whether a person focuses on the target of their attraction, if they don't, it's shouldn't last more than a couple of weeks, but if they do, it can intertwine with obsession and last over 2 years.

Think of it like a symbiotic relationship between ones will, and their brain.

Basically, the brain will always follow a persons will, if you disregard your attraction, then gradually your brain will adjust how you feel about them causing the feelings to fade, but if you "obsess" over them, then your brain will make those feelings stronger.

This is why some people become love crazed, they have built up such a priority for love in their own mind, so their brain builds up those neural pathways that are used for their feelings.

What if you really like and admire the person and although he or she is with someone else, but you don't necessarily wish the worse for him and that relationship. What is that associated with? And what if you felt that way for 2-3 years and still feel that way and really like them?

The defining factor is if it is a urge to be with them, or a calm attraction. Infatuation is quite strong in feeling, love can be strong or calm. It's really about how concrete the feeling is, similar to the subtleties of finding someone adorable or hot, if that makes sense.
