Do you ever wonder if you're in love? Do you wonder if you'll find love?
Sometimes when we're searching for so long we forget what we are looking for in the first place.
Can you tell the difference between your feelings? I can't tell you how often I see people broken hearted over someone or something that obviously wasn't what they thought it was.
Three words people often confuse are 'like', 'love', and 'infatuation'. Now you might be thinking that those three words often coincide. You're right. But over the years we have overused these words as a replacement for their true meaning. Sure you can look it up on Google or something and find the dictionary terms, synonyms, and Greek translations, but that won't help you in the moment and certainly not help you with relationships. So I'm going to give a brief break down of each one so you'll know the signs of these terms in everyday life.
Like: Means interest. Interest in the sense of attraction or pulling nature. Often when you like something you tend to gravitate towards it and enjoy its company.
Love: A appreciation for something far greater than simply liking something. You put its needs before yours. Even when it's nearly impossible and an inconvenience. You take care of it. Wanting what's best for it even if that means you'll have to let it go and move on.
Infatuation: A medium between "like" and "love". Wanting it obsessively. Nothing comes between you and it. Ever. And if someone says something about it you are quick to defend it. Many of these signs are also signs of love. But infatuation wears thin after a certain time period. Most people don't think it will because it is similar to love in its aspects.
Now if you have a crush or are in a relationship I want you to go back and read those three paragraphs again. But with a twist. Every time there is the word "it" in a sense of referring to a thing, I want you to replace that word with your special someone's name. This will save you some tears and clear up at least a few of your questions.
It's important to know that these feelings can grow and mutate. Sometimes like can turn into love and vice versa. Maybe I wrote this for nothing. But I have a feeling there is someone out there who needed to hear this. Let me know what you guys think.
