Your view on having an unexpected child?

Question

Just out of curiosity, if you so happened to find out that you were having an unexpected child, what would you do?

This question isn't just limited to females, as though yes, I believe the female carrying has the final decesion, I also believe that the male involved is entitled to have an opinion too.

It would depend at what point in my life. Now I want a baby, so it's perfect.
5 years ago it would have been less than ideal; but we had the financial means and stable relationship that once the shock wore off we would be more than able to provide a wonderful life and family for a baby.

8 years ago though, when I had put every cent of my money into investments, hubby/boyfriend at that time had a shitty dead end job and we were fighting a lot; I'd have aborted. I know personally I'm the kind of person who when pushed I could have made it work, but I think a child's right to a GOOD life is more important than a foetus' right to grow. I'd have struggled, been resentful and I don't think my relationship at that point would have made it. That potentially puts that baby in a single income household struggling week to week with none of the "luxuries" like holidays, braces, extra curricular activities. I know my mum did the best she could in the above situation, and I'm so grateful for her sacrifices on my behalf but I want much more for my children.

It depends on the situation. If I was married or in a serious relationship, I would raise the baby with my partner (presuming they stayed; if they didn't, and I was able to support myself and the child well enough then I would do it myself). However, if I was unable to support the child and give him or her the life he or she deserved, I would give the child up for adoption. It would break my heart to give away my baby, but if it meant that he or she could have a better life than what I could provide, I would do it, if it was what was best for my child.

Bottom line, the child doesn't deserve punishment for his or her parents' actions. I would not kill my child through something as horrific as abortion.

I’m at this point in life when unexpected pregnancy wouldn’t be a big deal at all. I have a guy who wants to have children with me in the future and if that future came to us sooner than expected it would be hard financially, but we would do our best for the baby. Options B and C are not really an options for me.
In general, I think that abortions should only be done when there is a danger to mother’s health and life. And all these teens aborting babies because “they are not ready for it” shouldn’t be having sex in the first place.

This answer has changed at many points in my life. There are times when I would have had to abort, and times I wouldn't. It would be a near miracle for me to get pregnant now, and I would embrace the experience, though I am also glad I never had children.

I would raise undoubtedly. I can't be with a woman who hates or doesn't want children. It's against a woman's nature really, but I understand if an abortion is necessary to EXTREME of the EXTREME circumstances. If I unexpectedly figured out my woman was pregnant, I'd raise it anyway I could. I'd take multiple jobs, get on some kind of welfare programs, and ultimately help from my and her parents until I got my degree and started working as police officer, which is my current goal.

I dislike abortions so I would keep the child, although I dislike abortions doesn't mean I'm 100% against them in every case, just the stupidly common ones.
I'll have to take responsibilities for my actions and raise him since I wasn't careful enough.

First of all, I will absolutely never have sex without using at least one form of contraception. If my partner did become pregnant, it would be because the world has it out for us, not due to any carelessness on mine or her part.

I very adamantly do not want kids, mainly for financial reasons among plenty of other reasons. In the case of it happening, I wouldn't think twice about getting an abortion if it were up to me. Regardless, I would put a VERY strong word in that an abortion is what I want.

Despite how fundamentally just... WRONG it is, if my partner didn't want to get an abortion, there would be nothing I could do about it. Not to mention forcefully taking half of everything I have ever worked to get, in order to finance the child. In fact, I don't really see the point of asking this question, because it's not as if males have a choice in the matter.

This particular situation terrifies me so much, that it's as good as a requirement for me that my partner has identical views on having no kids, and getting an abortion if it comes to it.

Immediate abortion (and before anyone jumps on me with "It's the person carrying the fetus' choice", I know. I'm trans. The only way I could have an accidental child is if I became pregnant).
There's no way I could have a healthy baby. I'm on a very limited diet due to a chronic illness. I wouldn't be able to eat everything the fetus would need to develop properly. Not only that, I don't have much energy or strength to begin with, let alone what a pregnancy take. A pregnancy actually would have the potential to set my recovery back years, or even kill me.
But even if I wasn't sick, I wouldn't not carry a fetus to term.

As a man I don't really have "reproductive rights" and a say in the matter if it were to come down to it. However, I threw my hat at abortion simply for the fact that I believe bringing a child into the world that would live a horrible life due to my own stupidity to not wrap it up is child abuse within its own right. If I can barely afford to live and support myself bringing a child into it to live in misery and poverty with me would be inhumane. Circumstances permitting I would stay and raise the child, be a supportive father to the woman by staying with her or fight for custody/joint-custody in court. But my vote remains where I lie in the present. If it were to happen I would push for abortion but if that didn't happen I would fight to get out of child support because I don't believe ANYBODY should be forced into parenthood. Planned or not.

With my wife and i, it wodnt really matter if ut was unexpected or not. We would raise it, love it and take care of it. I actually want to be a father at some point, sure financially it would be hard, but we would live with it and be alright.

My wife and i are for limited pro choice. Meaning only in the first trimester and only if having the baby is going to kill the mother, or is the result of rape or incest. Beyond that there are millions of couples that can't conceive that would love to have a child, so if having the baby will do no harm, and isn't the result of rape or incest, adoption is the best choice.

It honestly depends on the situation. If you're broke af, too young, and/or the biological father won't be in the picture, then you should choose the last one. If you're already in a relationship, engaged, and/or financially stable, go for the first choice. In my personal opinion, I don't think you should put them up for adoption. I wouldn't want strangers raising my child, and there are numerous stories on physical, emotional, and sexual abuse in foster families as well as adopted families. You just never know, and I personally would not take that risk.

every person is born at the time they are for a reason so, at least in my opinion, aborting the child isn't right. sure it would really really suck to carry it for 9 months and then go through a painful thing called labour even if you don't want to at all, but you could always put the child up for adoption. feel free to disagree or agree with me

Not to get too political about abortions but I think that anyone that is pro life is being unrealistic. There are many reasons people have abortions and a lot of them being because a pregnancy would be terminal for them. Also why would you force a baby into this world if it won't be able to get the proper care it needs and everyone knows the foster system is fucked.

Keep the child no matter what and raise the baby (despite if you were financially, emotionally... etc... stable or not) with full responsibility (may it be with support or alone) you'd do whatever it takes to raise that child/(if you're a male) convince and support the female in keeping the child

Even though we were protected and I was on pills like I used them religiously right on time, I discovered I was pregnant 6 weeks. i was 23 , student with no money, for sure I was not ready to be a parent neither emotionally nor financially. I had abortion and I dont regret my decision. I am a prochoice.

My daughter was really unexpected and I thought I couldn't get pregnant I was married for 6 years and we never had kids. Then after my divorce ten months later WHAM! I got pregnant. I kept my kiddo and she was the best thing that came to me

Choice A. You don't punish a child for someone else's crime or mistake. I don't understand how you could not love your child. Even if you hated the father, that's only half it's genes and the other half is you. It's your baby.

I was an unexpected child. My mom kept me but my dad didn't want her to. For the 22 years that i have lived my dad has neglected me. My younger brother wasn't an unexpected child, my dad hasn't neglected him. I wish my mom had just aborted me so i didn't have to live in this misery.

I would get an abortion. Pregnancy and childbirth would make my life an absolute living hell. But I wouldn't have sex with someone who wasn't okay with my stance on this. I also wouldn't have sex without using protection so hopefully the situation would be avoided altogether, however contraceptives aren't 100%.

My current girlfriend has told me that if I ever knocked her up the only decision she'd be making would be whether to tell me she got the abortion or about the pregnancy at all.
