It really comes down to it
I'm a psychologist when it comes to relationships, i want to figure out the why's behind everything.
I would first look at the difference in age, if its a year or two off, its whatever to me, but lets say she turns out to be 5 or 6 years older than she first said i would have doubts
Now in both cases i would want to know why she lied about it, what made her feel like she couldnt be up front with me in the first place
I would seriously doubt how well that relationship would go seeing she already lied about such a irellevant point
If they lie about the things that I can test and verify or discredit, how can I trust them on the things where I must simply accept their word as the truth?
Want to see if true love conquers all... even lies!
A good long term relationship requires
L love, lust, and liking (different forms of attraction)
T trust
R respect
All the love in the world won't overcome a lack of trust for people in mature relationships.
I agree lol
I'd demand a valid explanation when I find out. If he can't offer even that, it'd be safe to believe he was a liar.
I agree
What is a valid explanation and what would not be a valid explanation?
What if he looked the same as the photos and lied about being 5 years younger than originally said. Is that still a deal breaker if he is the same person you originally had interests in?
Nvm i just realized you didn't say deal breaker. But would you think thats a deal breaker?
age is just an number, to look younger my mom never mentions about my baby brother so I don't think much of it @Creepzoid
@Creepazoid sorry, spelled you wrong
Lol it's cool I still got notified
Not sure... seems like a lame thing to lie about. I'm not sure I'd be able to trust anything else afterwards.

No probably not but I'd want some explanation why he lied. I know some people look younger than their age when they are old and if they put their real age on the dating app they might get passed over even if they are healthier than people younger than them.
That picture is funny!!
Most likely yes. I can't live my life constantly wonder if he is lying.
I met a few ladies who 'subtracted' a couple of years from their actual age when we met first.
I see it more as 'tactics' than being a lie.
But 'the moment of truth' should be early - for fairness.
There had been one girl who 'forgot' 5 years of her past and she -emm- did not make it. But for other reasons than 'telling a lie': she lacked these 5 years of individual evolution and so was too distant to mine.
At our age we will definitely see this... Most times they really didn't even have to do it! Insecurity can be a bitch!
On 'dating apps' I can understand it somehow: there are these 'search' filters and someone can easily be left out to be seen. I mean: 'we' men have certain 'expectations'; I guess, no one really looks for an 'old' girl ('old' in thoughts, activities, ... a 'granny' if one wants to name it like this).
Funny 'story' from the past: At a (train) ticket counter a lady in front of me once asked for a 'senior' rate. When the guy at the counter asked her age, she snapped: "Old ENOUGH, young man." ... :D
When i was 15 my ex told me his was 15 14 16 18. I was so dang confused. I didn't break up with him. I just did my research and found out we were same age. So i dont believe anyones age initially. If it turns out theyre more than the age range i go for, id prob leave
I don't take very well to be lied to. Honestly is important. I understand that sometimes someone is put under a lot of pressure, and may lie. It's human nature, though not the best part of human nature. However, there is no "great pressure" pushing someone to lie about their age. That is a deliberate, calculated, deceptive act.
It would probably depend on why, and if they had a habit of lying about other things as well. I wouldn't appreciate it, but I would give them a chance to at least explain why they thought it was necessary.
Something that's pointless to lie about. I'm an overly cautious person. With an overly cautious family. I'm going run a background check on you for my own safety. I'd I don't I know my family will.
So gonna find out regardless no pointing lying. But I definitely wouldn't speak to a person who does.
Also - lol at the picture. That actually happens a lot on dating sites. Which is why I steer clear of them.
The man in the picture is at LEAST 23! What a liar!
Ha ha ha
You think after 25 years of marriage and she lied about her age. I guess I just have to keep her than.
i agree!
I guess it depends on how they lied about their age and why. For instance, a lot of people have inaccurate ages on dating apps, girls usually a little older than their actual age, guys a little younger. As long as she was legal I'd be fine, just would like an explanation.
If it was more than a year, then I'd want a valid explanation like, I could be drafted for war (I know, not likely), and not something like, "I knew you wouldn't love me.". No Carl, not since you lied to me *EXAMPLE* well that's my two cents, someone come disagree with me
Depends in the age range, anything above 6 years my age age or you know... it being illegal is kinda out of bounds.
Ah who am I kidding if she’s younger I’m all ears.
Lol 😂
Yes. But I don’t understand why the heck peoples lie about their age when dating someone. Especially that today with our current technology anyone can know about you
Age is irreverent. The lie is not. If it's so easy to lie about something so minor, how easy will it be for her lie about other things?
Yes! What if she were a minor in a hurry to grow up? Why would I want such a burden on my shoulders?
The minor thing is quite disturbing. I saw on the news a dude got arrested because she said she was 18 and lied but he still went to jail.
You should never start a new relationship with a lie. You won't be able to trust them with anything else
Agree... not sure why people do !
Yeah, because if they lied about something so small and simple; who knows what else they lied about.
Yes, I don’t want a guy whose older than me by 2 years, nor younger than me by 2 years.
Hmm I'm sure honestly. If they lied by a HUGE years gap thennn yeah
Yeah. I would break up if they lied about their age! 💯
Cool
Only if his age was illegal and I could go to jail.
🌸💜🌸
Yup I would because if someone's gonna lie about something like that. Then what else could they be willing to lie about. there's no room for lies in a relationship.
Probably not, but it would be one of the stupidest lies imaginable since I date a person not an age and am open to dating women withon a wide range of ages.
If the foundation of the relationship was a lie, how do you expect it to build up?
Not sure. I mean it's such a silly thing to lie about. But that's the point if she's willing to lie about something so silly it might means she lies constantly. And you can't be with someone you can't trust.
Definitely!! I mean that’s one small lie... imagine what else they’ll be able to lie about😒
Depends on the age of them first off... but If they were mature to make you feel some way to make up for the difference mentally.
If he lied about it the first time, how do I know he won't lie about something else? No, no... Too many red flags.
I have an aunt who lied to her now husband about her age. He told her a lie too, so I guess it balanced out with them. They seem happy.
I learned from R. Kelley back in '94. Too bad he didn't..
Yes. Not because of the age, but because of the dishonesty.
I've had a major change of attitude so I probably wouldn't.
If he’s lied about his age, he’s probably lied about other things.
Depends. If it were two kids and the one was self conscience about their age, I will call it youthful indiscretion
As adults, their is no excuse not to tell the truth.
It depends why he lied etc but it might be hard to trust someone who lied to you like that
Depends I never lied about my age they never asked until the next day. I probably wouldn’t.
definitely. At my age, exact age is important for legal reasons.
No I wouldn't. I don't look at that at all. That said I'm sure my parents would mind haha :P
@Rasheedw1 Yes
If it’s by a few years, nah
Yes because dishonesty is vile and shows a lack of respect.
depends if they're like 4-6 years older or younger than they really are
Im pretty sure lots of girls have lied about their age to me at first...
Yeah. I don’t abide liars
Yes I dated a girl who turned out to 15 for a year. She said she was 20 and at college. It was hard.
If she willing to lie about her age what's to stop her from lying about everything else
So yes break up
It depends on her current age but other than that yes
A relationship should be equal the same way any partnership should be.
It depends on the reason why, but that's generally a major red flag.
Yes. I don't tolerate dishonesty.
I guess it would depend on the age they actually were and there reason for lying about there age.
To lie about something like that just says it all
I would want to ask why they lied.
Depends on the gap between the provided ages.
It wouldn't be a big deal
No, but would definitely be a big fight
Trust is number one thing for me.
Maybe he was born on leap year?
As long as he is just 1 - 2 years older
Well, I’m a minor. I certainly would
Why?
Depends. On true age.
