Raising a dog or a kid?

I have this argument with people a lot , I'm curious of your opinions. I work in child care with ages 6 months to 12 years old for 5 years. I worked with all ages of children from 12 to 26 years old and adults up to seniors for 3 years. I've been rescuing and rehabilitating dogs from pups to seniors for 6 years.
I believe raising a puppy or training a dog with someone can show you a lot about your partners compatibility to raise a child together. Agreeing and disagreeing on certain aspects of how a dog or puppy should be raised or trained has caused conflict... deep conflicts with relationships of mine ( especially since I rescue only). I can be in baby fever for months till the moment I see how someone treats a dog or another animal. I've made the argument that we would fight a lot since we can't agree on training and raising a dog a particular way, and its turned me off to continuing the idea of a family. Some of my partners argue that a dog is nothing like a kid, I've heard both sides from people WITH kids , that raising a kid is harder or I wish I got dog /animal first to see how we worked together.
