Would you get in a relationship with someone you knew since they were a kid?

Like when they were a kid, you just saw them as that and nothing more. Strictly platonic!

But then when they got to a legal age, your brains like... "hmmm..." *licks lips* "dey do be looking like a snack." *rubs hands together*

What would you do? Would it be too weird for you? Or could you overlook the memories and age gap if they wanted you as well? What are your thoughts?

I'm in this boat with a few people since I met them when they were, like, 13ish? And now they're in their 20s as I'm nearing my 30th bday.

Though I find them pretty and attractive, I could never bring myself to be romantically involved.

One, they recognize me as a karate instructor and a mentor figure (I doubt I'm mentor material in anything other than kata, tho). It would be so wrong of me to shatter that image.

Two, I still see them as kids. When I look at them, I still see my young students, full of promise and enthusiasm.

I want to protect them, not be involved with them.

I do hope maybe I can go for drinks with them and hang out, but as friends and peers. It helps that they're now starting to be my equals in rank in the club, too, so it's more a friendship than an instructor-student dynamic.

At first I thought you meant someone you met as children and I was like sure, why not? My husband and I technically met when we were 6 and 8 and then again when we were 12 and 14 and we got married.

But then I reread it and... nope! If I was an adult and they were a child then nope! Creepy!

One thing most haven't considered is how old she would make you feel.

I know a girl that I knew since she was born. I was like 9 back then but basically during my teenage years she was a little a kid (an annoying little kid) but now she's the neenager and I'm in my early 20's and whenever I see her it feels weird, like I knew this girl when she was in diapers and now she has Instagram and people are commenting hearts on her posts and frankly if she keeps going down the same growth road by 18 she's gonna be a total hottie. But I still whenever I see her all I can think about is "wow I'm getting old" so I don't know if I could date someone like that it's just not my style

It isn't unheard of people doing that, but its an offer if a girl likes an older men, but if the older guy does that would be creepy so it's acceptable if the girl approaches mostly that's all I can say I guess

I tried, I asked her out, she said I was like a brother, then ghosted me (found out she ghosted me because she got in a relationship), started texting me again (after they broke up), didn't even attempt to try again, I knew my place in her life. She got mad that I didn't just go back to being bestfriends with her after she ghosted me, I stopped messaging her first, she still texts every once in a while, I reply but I don't make it a priority to reply right away especially since all she ever really texts about is relationship stuff seeking advice, I've told her I've never dated, never had a relationship so what makes her think I've got advice to give? What really happens is you don’t see them for many years & when you see them again they’re at some random older age like 20s. It’s not like you’d be watching the clock for them to turn 18.

Depends. If I grew up with them, and had them as a friend for that time, then it might be possible, given the circumstances and feeling would be right.
If I watched them grow up, and then, once they were an adult, I suddenly became attracted to them, then fuuuck no. That would be weird and creepy, and like latened pedophilia or some shit.

Only if it were a totally serious, marriage potential sort of thing. The one example I can think f like this in my life was someone I didn't know very well, whom I heard a few months ago was getting married when I saw her dad in a Zoom chat. She was uncomfortable when I complimented her photographs when she was in college even though I'm only about ten years her senior. I stopped doing it, of course.
