Would u randomly follow someone u don't kno on Instagram by "accident"?

A few weeks ago one of my friends send me a screenshot of my bfs Instagram account specifically of the people he was following back there were a few girls I knew who he's known since school years but this one woman I didn't kno about i asked him who it was and he said he was randomly following people back and happened to follow her back and swore he didn't kno who she was should I believe him or wtf do I do?
