When to move for a long distance relationship?

Anonymous
During college, I met a guy and things were great but the timing wasn’t right. So we broke things off mutually and have stayed in contact ever since.
Things are starting to look good again, but we’re adults and not in college anymore and live several hours apart. He has mentioned so many times about moving to be closer together. I brought it up that with my work schedule, the most convenient time for a move would be within the next few months. We’ve traveled the distance to see each other loads of times and have splurged on fancy dates and hotel stays during these trips, but never actually locked down what we were doing long term.
Anyways, he pretty much shut down at that question and completely dodged it saying that it’s a big deal and a huge commitment but left it at that. I know it is, but I thought that was where this was going.
I’m not in the best position to be throwing money or time around for someone who doesn’t really see this going anywhere long term. What should I do?
