Is my friend being rude?

Apparently a year ago I promised to pay her phone bill. Well now it's been over a year and I'm beginning to regret it and starting to stick up for myself. Now she's mad at me because I apparently "promised" I legit do everything for this girl and this how she talks to me. Am I wrong

Both of you are in the wrong. You should've not kept a promise that you couldn't keep and your friend shouldn't be talking to you that way. If I were you, I would cut your friend off. A friend should not be stepping over your boundaries by talking to you like your 💩. If she really loved you as a friend, she would not say stuff like that no matter what..

I do everything in cash to avoid bank issues and either trust people or would at least contemplate breaking their legs to get my money back

I just don't trust banks given I have 3 accounts and maybe 20 between them and a bag of sand in cash even lot more in liquid physical assets

First of all... Always keep financials out of any relationship.
Second you certainly need better friends, I honestly didn't like how you were spoken to.
It's like she's using you and when you didn't offer anything she snapped
