I feel like my boyfriend is screwing me over. Am I right?

My boyfriend and I almost weren't able to celebrate Christmas with our families because we have a pet bird (my boyfriend's bird that he brought to the relationship) that we couldn't find a sitter for. I have nagged since October for him to find someone until Christmas but he postponed it and almost caused a depressing Christmas in the apartment for us. He refused to call kennels because he claims he has social anxiety and doesn't want strangers to watch her. So I (and his mom) made the calls and I finally found someone. It cost 90 dollars and his mom was nice and gave 50 dollars to help out. I told my boyfriend we could split the remaining 40 dollars (20 each) and I feel like this was fair because this is really his responsibility but I was willing to help. He then said he got offended that I "assumed" the money from his mom was to support both of us to get her to the kennel. He said the money should be for his part of the support. That means he wanted ME to pay the remaining 40 dollars, and use THE MONEY FROM HIS MOM to pay for the kennel. This means he wanted his mom and girlfriend to pay the kennel when IT'S HIS DAMN BIRD. I got so pissed and told him if I was mean I could refuse to pay anything because it's not my bloody bird. He claims he loves her and doesn't wanna keep her with strangers and all this crap but makes his mother and girlfriend pay everything and do all the work to make sure she is okay? I told him I was absolutely not going to pay 40 dollars and let his mother pay for the rest. I said 20 on both of us, then everyone helps, everyone contributes. He got really mad but eventually went with it. Not only did I make the calls to get her a sitter. But he assumes I pay 40 dollars and his mom 50 while he sits back not doing shit. I also had to pay for plane tickets because he can't afford it right now. But if I was mean I would have bought plane tickets only for myself, refused to pay for the bird and said sorry this shit ain't my problem.

My response to this would be, “It’s your bird. Your mom is giving you $50. Out of the kindness of my heart, I’m offering you $20. You can spend $20 and spend Christmas with your family, or you can stay here with your bird.”
