Would you date if you were happy single?

Question

I don’t think my life can get any better than what it is so I think if I try to change it, I don’t see anything added to my life, only things taken away, like having kids might mean sleep deprivation or exhausting housework when I have to do double or quadruple more cleaning and cooking than I do now, as well as unpleasant smells like poop or vomit and the daily fear the kids could be corrupted or abused by bullies or druggies.

And than if I find a guy to marry, that means twice as many people to care for when we’re both old and weak, and there is the possibility of cheating and abuse and fighting and divorce because relationships have risk. And when I have a partner I can’t make 100% of the choices of what I want to eat, where I want to live, what I want to buy, or where I want to vacation, and if my husband is good looking, he will be ugly in 10-40 years and I will still be stuck with him.

As an divorced person I will give my best to explain and give pure thoughts.

Atm I'm happy single person I have everything I need and I do get whatever I want or dream about. Like I do take care for myself as best I could.

And my answer is I would date again indeed. Now the question why.

Because there is an old saying where I am from. (Lonlines is a slow death, takes time but eventually overpowers you) and no matter what others are saying in the back of their mind this things is eating them alive even if they are putting on a smile everyday or are telling the same lie each day that it's all for the best.

We humans in general will always need company.

The smell of poop, the throw up and all the more cooking pays in time yet this all comes down to being able to care for another human being. If you do good then that person you cared for will do the same for you when you get old. Sure there are irregular types so called bad apples but that's life.

Whether you are happy or sad/bitter or hurt you deserve better. That means that another person can change your bitterns or sadness into happiness or inscrease your happiness or may be your downfall.

Yet life is for the brave and bold. Whether is pain or sorrow or happiness and love is for all of use to experience. Limiting yourself from that part of life its not normal. For those that will say that being alone is better! Imagine being locked behind a door and it's only you there for eternity with only the scary silence. You call that life?

In the end all comes down to your thoughts before going to bed when you are all alone. Are you happy or sad? Bitter or sweet!

I perfer my coffee by myself yet to drink it in the morning while I'm hugging the person I care for makes this cup of coffee even more sweet.

We humans learn our whole life's and still can't do anything right! A little loneliness is fine a lot more seems like a selfless act of self desperation.

I can go even further but that's enough.

Honestly your viewpoints ain't justified. But I do respect other people's feelings and opinions on topics they wish to discuss.

So whether you stay single or you search for your soulmate it's your own choice and your own life. But most things taste better in company.

As someone that's been single over 12 years (and counting), I personally wouldn't. But that is because I'm so content with my life as it is, I don't see myself in a relationship right now- and that's okay.

However, realistically it's better to date when you're happily single than miserable! Yes, really.
I'm sure most of you have heard the old saying, "You won't be happy in a relationship if you're not happy single." There's a reason for that. If you go in a relationship miserable, lonely, and desperate, you attract the wrong type of people. You're basically putting a bandaid over your problems.

People don't realize that relationships are a BIG responsibility! And if you can barely take care of yourself, or you're not happy with yourself, it's not ideal to try and find someone to add to your pity party.
However, if you're thriving, confident, working to better yourself, or just feel like you're in a good place in life, is dating okay? Sure! Heck you might find someone to further support or push you to do better.

But do you have to date? NO. I recommend just letting things naturally happen: by that I mean if the right person just happens to cross your path, give them a chance! But don't go looking for a relationship if you're happy as is.

If you're happy being single and dont need someone else's love because yours is enough for yourself. then sure you dont have to. what matters is your happiness. never date someone just for what others would think about you if you stayed single or what the society thinks of you. because what makes you happier is what matters the most

Wow! You put quite a bit of thought into this haven't you? Now think about this for a second. What if you date and find that you had a great time with a man who is not all bad looking you decide, nice teeth and OK, you'll admit it. He gotta cute butt!! So you decide you want to see him again and before you know it your looking forward to seeing him, spending time with him. He makes you feel safe, he makes you feel secure, he makes your life extremely simplistic because of the little things he does that show he's obviously in love, and after sex that night, you decide, your in love with him. So 2 years down the road your feelings for each other have only increased so all those negative thoughts about kids are not so heavy on your mind anymore because you also know for a fact at this point you'll have help from your wonderful hubby with the great teeth and cute butt!! Yeah sure there will be poop and diapers and 2am feedings but the load is now split in half and when your child/children are graduating high school you decide that it really was worth it and you wouldn't change a thing. The End.

I certainly would. You don't have much too lose and so much to gain. People often say they don't want kids, but when they have kids they then say they wouldn't trade it for the world. And the same happens with relationships. Even if you meet someone and end up not getting with them, you've still got a new friend right? So even with that small risk of worsening my life, I think I stand too much to gain so I'll take that chance.

The best time to date is when you are in a good place and want to share life with someone. If you don’t want to risk anything or change your lifestyle, then the single path is for you. On the other hand, if you find the likelihood of regretting missing out on having a family and ultimately investing in cat food to feed your main companions during your later years, then you might want to date.

I think that’s one way to look at things but I also think it’s an unhealthy way. Everything comes with burdens but we focus on the good things. For instance, yes being married means I’ll have to care for another person but it also means I’ll have someone I can come home to every day and count on. Having children’s is added responsibility but I’d have my own family and love them.

Well in your case, yes lol. But in general, you're only focusing on the negatives, and yes a possibility/risk, but look at the positives also. You don't have to have kids for example, ever. When you're "both old and weak", chances are someone will have to look after you both, meaning you'll need that likely even if you stay single. And yes, you do have to think about the other person, so if you don't want that, single is the best option. But your last sentence, if you truly love him, he's NEVER going to be "ugly" to you, hence will never be "stuck with him". People that feel that way, don't love their partner. But yes there are advantages to being single, and especially if you only want to have to think or worry about yourself.

Can't tell about others but I am not gonna be happy alone ever. I will always be needy for love. Else why would I think of relationship anyways? If both don't need each other, then there is nothing there. I don't need to live on Mars. So I don't think about it often.

Absolutely I would still date. It's almost like asking "would you still buy expensive clothes if you were rich?"

Mine you, I would have a pretty high standard of actual relationships because I must say, I've generally gotten "freedom euphoria" after relationships end. The sadness takes much longer to kick in.

So like total honesty, if I felt like was absolutely on top of my game, I'd probably be a bit of a player.

Yes, as you can always have a solo poly lifestyle. Where you can date and love the people you want but always live alone. You decide how to make the time you want for a partner (s). In a sense it's keeping your status quo, you don't even have to marry.

since when does dating require you to have kids? Living life 'alone' sounds like a horrible fate.. solitary confinement is what you get in Prison, people are 'social' crreatures... we like to be with other human beings, unless you have some sort of mental illness, in that case I am SORRY for you.

For women its different than for men unfortunately. Men can be single and fuk around for half century and then get himself women to give him kids and she can be 20y younger. Or even get multiple women in some countries. World is not fair, i agree
