I just found out my father - who I looked up to as a great man - has cheated multiple times on my mom and has given her an STI. How do I handle this?

I’ve always had an idealized vision of my father - a good man, honorable, hard working, etc. I now feel like it’s all based on a lie. And he’s in fact a cheated, socially a loser, a coward etc.

Damn that sucks. I can sympathize as I went through a similar experience. I was closer to my father than I was my mother but I tried hard to stay neutral. Lots of times I would have the both of them be angry with me.. This was especially true around the holidays. To this day I still would like to just go away to someplace warm at Christmas time and come back when the whole thing is over.

That's going to be for them to work out, yes, you are in the crossfire but I'd stay neutral and make sure they both know you support them. let them work it out. and learn a lesson in the process.
