I can’t tell if my crush is interested?

I can’t tell if my crush is interested or not. He makes comments sometimes that seem directed at me such as “I mow my grass with my shirt off in hopes that a single mom will hit on me” in front of me too my coworker. I’ma single mom so I thought it was directed towards me. He’s an athlete so take that with a grain of salt. He’s very out spoken to everyone but gets quiet and almost shy when talking to me. But when I messaged him he uses exclamation points. When I tried flirting it didn’t seem like he was interested based on his responses via text. So I told him “I was interested but I’m not sure the feeling is mutual no harm done take care.” To which he replied “oh, yea I’m sorry! :(“ So the next time I saw him I was awkward and couldn’t look him in the eyes but I could feel him looking at me. It feels like he’s not interested but other people have told me his response could also mean “sorry I didn’t catch on soon enough” and that I basically told him that I’m not interested anymore. Anyone have any input? Should I give up?

No please don't give up. There's hope and I think he's waiting for you to tell him directly. I don't think he caught on to your flirting and he got a little confused. Honestly these signs are like a big sign he's interested. If you are a little hesitant to ask directly maybe ask him to hang out or something without saying it's a date. He might say he likes you in awhile if he does. I hope everything works out!

If you like the dude, why don't you just tell him. If he doesn't feel the same way it will be embarrassing for a little bit but it'll be over. If he does like you then you proceed from there

Considering I just got out of a toxic relationship with someone I’ve been with most of my adult life and I have no idea what it’s suppose To be like, no I wouldn’t consider myself too old. I’m not sure what normal is and it’s been so long since I’ve wanted to show interest in someone new. So please share your advice instead of your judgement. Thanks.
