It’s unfair for your current boyfriend given that he is investing his time on you and you are not fully reciprocating. It’s only fair that he is in a relationship with someone that is as invested and committed as he is. And if you know that there is someone that makes you more happy than you should give him the chance to find someone that will make him feel the same way, even if that person is not you. If you love him and respect him, you should let him go.
This often happens when you find out someone else can give you what your current boyfriend can’t. Sometimes friends seems like better romantic candidates when we don’t know what it’s actually like to be dating them. It’s the thrill of the new relationship. But, I think it would be a waste to leave your current boyfriend because he might live up to how that other person treats you later on. And if you left him now, how would you know? Besides, if you got with this other guy, you’ll most likely go through the same thing with him and have to make the same decision all over again. If you commit, of course while taking your personal comfort into consideration, you might find out later that it was just insecurity and infatuation.
