Is it true some people are putting little to nothing to the table nowadays?

I've been receiving the same amount of complaints from my friends and relatives of both genders.
Some of the guys can already cook and clean good. To them, a girl that does both is a person that knows basic skills but not the only thing they're looking for in a long-term partner. Surprisingly they are increasing their standards a bit more.

As for the ladies, they don't want just a romantic man that tells them sweets things. To them any man can do that and easily lie. They are tired of guys brining nothing to the table other than sex and sweet talks aka lovebombing.

So basically some people are bringing little to nothing to the table nowadays? Is this true for both genders?

Yes I think so. I mean if we're honest men and women don't offer nearly as much to each other as we used to.

For the most part men don't protect women anymore like they used to and they are not the only breadwinners anymore either. They don't bring the same things to the table as they used to because there isn't a need for them to anymore.

The same is true of women. I mean let's face it what is the NEED for a woman in a man's life beyond sex? We don't cook much these days and most if us are not committed mothers. We have daycare for that. Most of us pull our weight as far as income but so what? On average we earn less than men so our net financial impact in a relationship is a negative.

What about friendship/companionship? We can get that from our friends and family.

So what do men and women bring to the table for the opposite sex? Not much beyond sex, and most of us women give that away these days without any requirement for commitment.

That is half true.

Men today actually bring more to the table than men of the past. Most guys I know can cook better than most women I know. Men are expected to clean and cook and do all the things that traditionally were female roles, all while still being expected to be the primary breadwinners.

Women today bring less to the table than women of the past. Most have turned their backs on cooking because they find it a demeaning traditional gender role, they hire out the job of raising their children to daycare workers who don't love them and they expect men to split the house chores with them.

Then, there are also the vampire bfs. This is the cases of them living together for 4+ years, the woman does cook great, clean and works too. She provides all that and sex, all for nothing. She's left childess and he won't move the relationship forward. Instead he's still lovebombing (''Oh one day honey, one day we'll have kids, one day''), wasting that woman's fertile years while thinking about just himself. In those cases, he's wasting her time and providing nothing to the table.

I think the dynamic of relationships has changed over the years. There used to be distinct differences between what men and women brought to a relationship. Now we have a generation of people used to their parents doing everything and they expect the same from a partner.
