I was dating a girl for a few months and then one day she went distant on me just when things felt like they were going to be official. I know they say not to chase but I really like and because I know her last 2 boyfriends treated her like shit I wanted to show that I truly cared for her. I noticed that when I'd see her at work she would be in such a bad and negative mood so my solution was to make her laugh. This didn't work and ended up just irritating her which led to her not only becoming distant, but now also cold.
After about 4 weeks of this I decided to text her and ask her on a walk and she told me that she only ever went distant because she was incredibly stressed in life and didn't want to be bad company for me and couldn't focus on a relationship while in that mood, but my constant attempts to make her laugh with bad jokes ended up just irritating her and then that she was genuinely just busy or tired on days off and wasn't in the mood to hang out but me not believing her and complaining about it made me whiney. She got it all off her chest
After a few days she slowly started to return but I acted way too keen and she shut away again. She has since on a night out avoided contact and conversation with me and told her friends rhat we are over and she's not interested anymore. Despite this her friends don't fully believe her and think she just wants space and her telling me what I've done wrong is her way of telling me what to fix if I want this to work. We were working the same shift last week and it done what she wanted and while things were awkward and cordial between us, it was rhe first laugh I got from her in a long time and she said she'd give me a lift to work over the weekend. She said it's over, but is that true or is she giving me a chance to fix the issues and she can watch from a distance without any strings attached? We've been so good for so long, rhat I'm desperate a month of mayhem doesn't ruin something that's been very special
