How and when did you meet the love of your life?

Ah guys, I’m just looking for some inspiration right now (lol).

I’ve been in love twice in my life.

I met the first guy through a mutual friend while he was visiting my city during Christmas time. There was an instant spark and we did LDR.

I swore off LDRs after that because it didn’t work out.

2 years later I spoke to a guy I met on social media with no expectations. I was bored and he was hot. I fell in love 2 weeks in.

It also didn’t work out and I found myself in a LDR again 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Both relationships happened when I was least expecting it so I guess what they say is true.

I can’t help but think I’ve had the worst luck when it comes to love but I guess it’s all about timing…

What's the use of finding your real love, loving each other, living together and getting married but after years one of you decided to surrender and quit?

You won't be back to the zero zone again after losing years of your life and become destroyed mentally and physically and maybe financially but you will be sub zero...

What makes me affraid of relationships is because i know what i'm able to do, trust myself, keep my promises... etc, but when it comes to the other, all i know about them is the things that i hear from them, i do not know what's really in their mind or what will they do later and if they are really what they claim to be...

I know it's about actions, time and trust...

I used to laugh on people who told me that time changes the person but after experience i saw that they were right, if i'm someone who never changes with time, it doesn't mean that others don't...

That's where the huge problem occurs, if one of the couples changes after years of marriage till the point that they become unrecognizable anymore, makes you feel that the person whom you were married to is dead or no longer exists anymore...

You will be left only with one question which is: why am i paying the price of the other's faults? Ruined you're whole life and they never looked back at you and forgot that they entered this relationship as 2 but after all they decided to leave as one...

I think that’s a big issue for men tbh. From my experience there are many ways to reveal what a man can be like but women can be good at deceiving. That’s the problem too sometimes we just have to jump in with a leap of faith and take our chances

True, but once you take your chances and receives brutal pain in the end, it will be very hard to start once again because your mind will always reminds you of the trauma that you suffered from in the past...
I don't know why a lot of men make lies and a lot of women play games and deceiving...
Why can't they both just be honest to have a wonderful loving life were both will be happy...

I like it miss alyssa rapunzel but words are easy and ain't like actions, anyone can make a promise but few keeps it and does it...
We as humans should always have hope and encouraged to never give up, but the question is: how many times can you fall and rise up?

Look at the social media sites, look around you and hear what's happening around you, all these things will weaken you from entering and adventure again, if the 1st try or 2nd try didn't knocked you out, the 3rd or 4th might end you up or there's a little chance that you might succeed and overcome your fears...
We hear a lot about the success stories but we never hear about the failed stories, it's because we only seek for positive things but that doesn't means that this will be our case, we might succeed and we might fail and it's up to each person to decide how much can they hold or are willing to take...

I met my ex-wife at a house party way back in 2001. The weird thing is that I almost didn't go, but my friends at the time kept calling my house over and over until I finally gave in and went. So I showed up late to a party completely sober and I saw her sitting there on a couch. I was like "Wow, she's really pretty and way out of my league" so I didn't even bother talking to her. As the night went on I switched into party mode and we were drawn to each other I guess and there was a bunch of pictures of us together that night. We stayed together for 15 years.

After that ended I met another woman online and we had a long distance thing going for about 2 years. She was a lot of fun and we helped each other through some incredibly tough times. I had genuine feelings for her too.

How did you find the long distance was it hard?

[EricJonesAB]

It was very different than what I was used to having lived with a woman for so long.
In the LDR we never argued or had any real responsibility to each other. We only talked when we wanted to and we had to completely connect on an emotional level. We talked to each other every day and by the time that relationship was over I knew everything about her and we had communicated more in those 2 years than I probably had with my ex-wife in 15 years together. It was interesting, but not going anywhere because we lived too far apart, and we're both parents with jobs and reasons not to leave our homes. It was very frustrating. In the big picture we were just two people who were meant to cross paths at time in our lives to give each other the love and support we needed. It was fate for us to know each other but not necessarily be together.

Awww it’s crazy how you can connect with someone who’s not physically next to you and you haven’t known for so long. Yet there are people around you but you can’t connect to them

Exactly.
I live in Alberta and she lives in Florida and we were so in love and could only video chat and text. She would get me to play songs for her on guitar and she would sing to me. We would write stories for each other and she even got into a fender bender because she was trying to text me while driving. We were so in sync and addicted to each other. It was really great for a while and I could feel that I was in love with her.

You know what my favourite part is - the music part and the writing part. That's so intimate.

Yeah she loved live music and I loved to hear her sing and just see her beautiful face. We were both kinda wacky at times and she was actually an Elementary school teacher there. She would confide in me about all of her issues at work and I could be supportive. She was also quite a sexual person and we definitely used our wild imaginations to explain exactly what we wanted to do to each other, lol.
Yeah sometimes I wonder what we talked about, but yet we couldn't stop talking. She would even wake up at night and leave me messages to read first thing in the morning. We were saying I love you from the beginning and she liked that I wanted to call her Honey and Sweetie because I missed being married. We just fell right into those rolls and we were meant for each other at that time.

Why didn't you meet?

Well that's a whole other chapter to this situation.
We had made extensive plans for her to fly to Edmonton and we were researching a bunch of stuff to do together when out of nowhere I started getting messages from her husband. She had told me that she was separated. So he somehow read all of our messages and he was very upset. He first told me that he would kill himself if I don't cut communication with her. Then eventually he took pictures of me and my child from her messages, he went and shot at them with his gun and sent me the pictures of me and my son with bullet holes, and he sent a picture of his gun. He was losing his mind because they also had a daughter who was very sick at the time. So anyway, I told her not to come to Edmonton, and that I wouldn't have sex with a married woman. We still stayed friends and stayed in contact for a while after that, but her husband kept freaking out and it was just a mess. I ended up cutting contact, then I noticed that she isn't online at all now. I think it's probably best if we stay apart.

Oh no! What an ending that I wasn’t expecting… why is it so difficult for good things to last… her husband sounds like a psycho. How frightening.

Yeah I cried when I had to stop talking to her.
Her husband is delusional, he blamed the entire thing on me and he thinks she's so happy with him.
Whatever.
I don't do long distance relationships anymore, I don't want that stress.

He sounds psychotic for sure…. LDRs are very risky. I also do t want to do them anymore but 🤷🏻‍♀️

I met my to be husband ten years ago, when he came to my place of works as a junior architect, to take measurements and make sketches of the proposed new extension.

We dated for about fifteen months before deciding, and agreeing to sell both our homes, and pooling our resources into a brand new home, designed by my husband (to be) and oversaw and built by him.

Fast forward to present day, we have just celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary, and I have just given birth to a very beautiful, drop dead gorgeous precious little girl, a very much loved little sister for our adorable almost three year old little boy.

We also now own and run the architects practice which trained my husband until he successfully qualified... The owners decided to take early retirement and offered my husband first refusal.

What about distance instead of timing? Why not find someone around your area? You can see them all the time. Build a proper relationship. Do exciting things together like rollercoasters (how's an LDR gonna ride rollercoasters with you?).

LDRs generally don't work. People dating people nearby and falling for them (ex: university or high school sweethearts) work way more often. So I think you need to fix distance more than anything else.

I decided to try online dating sites. I wrote a detailed profile and read the profiles or many women, only trying to match with ones that I thought might be compatible. I would only trade a few messages with interested women before deciding whether or not to ask for a date. For some reason one of the profiles stood out to me. We met for a casual date. The attraction was immediate and we fell in love quickly. It’s been great ever since.

I was fortunate, but it goes to show that things can work out. I think one mistake a lot of guys make is to try to match with everyone who looks attractive. That ends up wasting their time and the time of a lot of women. If I was a woman I would look for evidence that a guy actually read my profile before messaging me. One woman’s profile actually said that if you wanted to DM her to include a particular word at the start of the message. This way she screened out all the guys who were only looking at photos.
