That article and publication is total trash.
It's probably the complete antithesis of that. Females who have brothers, and male friends, and good, strong male role models like fathers and uncles etc. in their lives, understand men, see them as their peers, equals, etc., and are in a much better headspace of communicating with them, appreciating them, and compromising with them without digging in their heels just because they are different in some ways.
If a man finds a woman who has male friends, and she's not keeping them 'in her roster' as third-tier backups or 'friendzoning' them, and if the man can put aside his ego and machismo and jealousy, then he may have found a great partner; one who is sympathetic to some of the things he thinks, and goes through as a man. And if she chooses to be with him, when she has a good and non-adversarial relationship with men, it's a win-win for both of them.
The internet has democratized to the point of emboldening idiots who are self-proclaimed 'experts' on whatever they deem the most marketable and profitable. The real skill nowadays is not how to bag a good woman, but how to side-step all the bad advice out there.

"“Aside from some very rare scenarios, when a guy and a girl are talking, it is not platonic,”" What kind of bull is that? I guess I better tell all my guy friends that when we talk, there's a hidden agenda behind it! /sarcasm
Nonsense. If some men are that insecure to equate that a woman having a platonic friendship with a man means she's not relationship material, he's going to be single for a LONG time! And notice how it pointed out women having guy friends, not the other way around... I know several men with female friends AND they're happily married or in relationships. So where are those studies at... hmm?
These self proclaimed "dating experts" needs to sit down somewhere.
What Girls Said
LOL. Having guy friends means women can understand their partner better since they have spend a lot of times with their friends. In many cases, even grew up with them. So, they have a better understanding and if they need an advice, their guy friend tells them things from guys perspective.
I guess I'm not relationship material then, but whatever... its all good, this just makes the potential dating pool for men that believe this, down to almost zero... maybe even zero.
I usually just invite my man to come hang out with me and my male friends if he is worried, I got no issues with this at all.
I'd think women with guy friends would be better dating material, as she's more likely to be familiar with the way guys think and work. Currently, the only close friends I have are guys, and for me, it's made it easier overall to interact with them.
Lol no. I have plenty of guy friends, simply because my major at university is astrophysics, which has far more guys than girls in the classes. In high school I also majored in physics, so I haven't been around many girls. I do have a few girl friends and they're definitely closer friends than my guy friends. It's also worth mentioning that I did go to high school with my boyfriend, so most of my guy friends are his friends too.
Only an insecure dude would think this is true. Which in itself is a turn off, so yeah if a dude thinks this then I’m not relationship material for him because I refuse to put up with those insecurities.
I have more guy friends than I do girlfriends. And it’s platonic with all of them.Total bs in my opinion, how do you expect your date/boyfriend/girlfriend to be ‘your best friend’ if you can’t be friend with anyone of the opposite sex at all (men may not want to which I respect but for women it’s different)
no, i have a few guy friends. and they think i could be relationship material down the road. having good guy friends won't keep me from marriage
If that’s what makes me not relationship material, I will happily be rejected by guys who think that way 🤭 such an insecure mindset.
Please explain how having a gay guy friend prevents a women from being relationship material.
Just one word comes to mind...BOLLOX.
