My boyfriend thinks I drink too much coffee- I only have 2 per day 3 if I’m having a super tiring type of a day or if I have to drive anywhere…. lately he tells me to only have 1 caffeinated coffee in the morning and a decafinated one later in the day…. he thinks I’m overdoing it and he says he cares and he’s only looking out….
am I overdoing it? Or is this a form of control from his end?
I think he just cares. I’m similar to you but I sometimes take a caffeine supplement, or an Excedrine when I get a headache (which is often and those have caffeine) or I drink soda. My husband doesn’t like me taking caffeine pills. But it’s the thing that helps me get through the day. I think my sleep quality is poor and I’ve often speculated I might have chronic fatigue syndrome.
how is that controlling? is he MAKING you, forcing you?, or only SUGGESTING? and i think he's right. I don't know why you need that much coffee, i'd just suggest going to the doctor to see what's up. a lot of caffeine isn't good.
Why the fuck would he care how much coffee you drink? I'd be wary since it's people. who behave like that who become violent. If his anger is never at you, tell him he needs to see a therapist to find out what is his business and what he should have no input on.
If you keep your teeth white and free of coffee stain then he will not care how much you drink. Once you are drinking enough to stain those teeth then that's too much. Caffeine or no caffeine garbage...

Is he saying that he will harm you/leave you etc if you do not comply? 2-3 isn't a HUGE amount, but it's just not good to be dependent on caffeine to stay "up". Most health info sources will say to have your last coffee 6 hours before sleep time, and last tea about 3 hours before sleep time. The concern there is that the caffeine can break the natural sleep rhythm of the body.
One could get deeply philosophical and consider the possibility that ANY time a suggestion is made to them, that it is a means of "control", whether or not it was meant a such. Make a rationale decision based on YOUR needs and YOUR health.
If your boyfriend was getting fat from eating too much pizza and you told him just 1 pizza a week, wouldn't that be "a form of control"? If "control" really bothers you so much, you should get a cat. If you want a relationship, you're going to have to accept a certain amount of control. Relationship aren't about being "strong and independent". They are literally the opposite. You get one or the other. Choose.
As someone who has come to realize recently, as I have gotten older I can't eat or drink certain things like I used to. He's probably looking out for you.
Example of what I mean. I can't stand energy drinks anymore. They taste nice. But man they just make me feel like garbage now.

I think having 2 coffee's a day is okay. He's strict but I don't think he wants to control. He know him better so you can say if he is controlling or not
Does he drink alcohol? If he does like most people, tell him that is much worse for health than coffee.

There are no negative health effects from 2 cups of coffee a day.
