What is worse? Being left on read or being left on delivered, and why?

As the question says, what do you think is worse.

Left on read = the person have opened/read your message/snap but didn’t reply.

Left on delivered = the person haven’t opened/read your message but is active in the app/on social media.

Why do you think it’s worse? Do you yourself leave people on read/delivered? And if you do, why?

Generally a woman will have already got the message as a notification but not always.

In most cases after a woman has received a lot of messages which is usually clearly visible by both parties as read, seen. A woman will simply stop checking the messages coming in.

So it doesn't matter what you write or how much you right it.

Its not always an indicator as the recipient has an indicator that a message is unread from there message box.

On rare occasions I mark a message as unread, so I can get back to it but what if the respondent has seen that its read, changed back to unread?

In general for me to do so, is savering an action of having to respond. Rather then the reward of being able to check a message at a later stage, in consideration of the lengthly delays in anticipation in the first place, dispite however longer it is going to take for the woman to respond to that message and given that they have just written it means that theyre in no way, in anticipation of an auto response, without the consideration of the effort they have taken to bother to respond.

This should give you an indicator of a level of interest as opposed to a normal conversation but of course the issue of ghosting with unread messages is a common social problem and it especially becomes worse when you can see that theyre online and or active in social media else where.

If we play with the idea that you really know they have been active in the app… lets say snapchat. Maybe their snapscore have gone up significantly and they also posted a story but haven’t opened your snap. Is it still worse if they opened it but didn’t reply? Cause if they have been that active on the app it’s pretty much impossible to “miss” your snap

Both options honestly feel like a punch to the gut, but I voted left on delivered as the worse one. For me, I interpret being left on read as the person acknowledging my message but just doesn't know how or what to reply. It could most likely mean recepient chose not to reply but at least had a glance.

That is because it indicates that the person has read your message, it has been received but the person is not bothered to reply for whatever reasons. That could indicate a lack of basic respect and the person just does not care enough to give you a reply.

I think it depends on the situation but if someone never opens my message I tend to think they haven’t seen it yet but I know some people can ignore a message without even opening it. Being left on read feels worse especially if it’s something that could be answered quickly or easily, I understand some people might take some time to reply but I think intentionally opening a message with no intention of responding to a question is rude and I think some people do it to be petty or controlling.

Left on read is worse because they were active enough to open and probably read. They didn't care enough to respond. If people open and read then forget to respond that's on them.

Left on delivered can be because they don't have notifications on or are too busy to respond specifically for that person. I know for certain homies if I respond, we are going down a rabbit hole of tangents. I tend to save it for when I have enough free time.

It honestly depends on the person and what our relationship is like. I’d mostly say say left on delivered is worse because it would give me a sense of unease that the person has not even seen my message. If the message is left on read, in my opinion it means “I’ve seen your message. If I don’t respond now, I’ll come back and reply to it later.”. The message being left on read also gives me a chance to follow it up if necessary because I would know that the person has seen my message.

I think the worst one is delivered because it’s like the other person basically ignoring you. Being left on open can be explained if there’s nothing to text back or driving or whatever. But like leaving on delivered I think is disrespectful especially if the other person responds in a decent amount of time

Read means they’ve opened the account and read the message and are letting you know they don’t care.


Delivered means that they’ve received it seen it in their notifications on their lockscreen and decided to ignore you and pretend they haven’t seen it when they have.

Well, as I said about being left on delivered I mean that you can see that they are active online and in the app all day but doesn’t open your message. Like on snapchat you can both see their snap score going up and on the map you can see how long ago they used the app, on instagram you can see active status just as in messenger and Facebook
