What is your way to say I love you without saying "I love you"?

There are lots of things I can think of.

But I can remember of one occasion that in my mind truly showed that I loved him, during the pandemic, when China locked down, he lost his job, I went to my country for two weeks and got stuck there.

I had last few thousands of savings, and I ha lost my job as well. I had to help my family and myself as well.

Our apartment’s rent was due back in China, I was worried if he had anything to eat at all, because China was in a total lockdown mode at that time, I lied to him that my company was paying for our penthouse, instead gave my last savings to pay for 6 months of his apartment so that he would have enough time to find a job without worrying about a place to stay.

But I could never tell him that I did that, because he was extremely proud to ask help and would rather live on streets than accept help from me. He always wanted to be the one to contribute and to be the one to be the provider. I didn’t want to hurt the feeling of his honor.

He broke up with me 2 years later from that, but I have never once told him that I did that, even when we were angry and told each other some hurtful things, I still cared about his pride.

I think the manifestation of my love wasn’t the act of paying itself, of course I should have helped him, instead what showed my love - was the fact, that even when I had nothing, I was ready to give, and when he chose to hurt me, even when I was very angry at him, I never ever told him that I did that, because I still cared to not hurt his pride even after he hurt mine.

So, in a way, doing something just because you love them, instead of doing something just to make them see how much you love them - I guess that was my way to show love, to always be there for him, even when he had no idea about that.

Good question, I guess this drives at love langue. The things you do and the actions you take without saying anything, just because you love them. Cooking a meal, not saying things in a way that is hurtful, being affectionate... even something as simple as holding hands or snuggling on the couch.

So when I love someone, I tend to listen to them and try not to challenge their personal even when I disagree, I still respect them. So for me the number 1 thing a woman can do to show her love to me, is through her ability to respect our differences, more than our similarities and remain kind, generous and respectful.

I would probably say something to her that says how much I appreciate her in my life or expresses how I feel about her and the way she makes me feel (so like an indirect approach to saying I love her):

1) "Just being with you makes me the luckiest and happiest man alive."

2) I would put her hand on my chest and say "This heart never knew what a true connection is until I met you."

3) "Before today, I just lived my life day to day, now that I'm with you, I think about what's to come."

And, obviously, holding hands and physical touch that lets her know how I feel.
