What’s the most selfless thing someone has told you?

For me it was by my family

“Even if all of us die the same day, don’t come back until you make your dreams come true.”

My family witnessed me how I suffered during long distance, I was a happy, cheerful, strong minded person before I got separated with my ex fiancé and then when I got stuck in Georgia failing to see him at every attempt, I started having depression, I wanted to die, thankfully I am too coward to have it tried but I was suffering so much, I really thought I’d die of a heartbreak, I had low grade fevers caused by constant stress, I would wake up at night and thought my heart was going to stop, my brother lived in a same apartment as me. He always saved me, he held my hand, hugged me and told me I was going to be okay.

As they witnessed how it ruined me to be stuck there and be unable to go back.

When I was coming back to China and planned to my fiancé, they told me

“Go, and follow your heart. Even if we die at the same day, don’t come back for us. Follow your dreams. Forget us, we’ll be fine. Make sure, you’ll be happy.”

For me… it was when a girl I was madly in love with cheated on me. For 6 months she had an affair with her boss while we were living together. I was so blinded with love I couldn’t see the signs. But the thing she told me was this: “for the first 3 months of the affair she never thought about how it would effect you (meaning me)”.
Now let’s talk about you for a minute. I’m glad you had your brother nearby. It does sound as if your brother saved you.
Life isn’t always easy… sometimes it’s never easy. It’s good to know where to find help when no one else is around. My suggestion is the church… I am not suggesting that anyone “finds God” but suggesting for anyone who reads this that the church can help with many problems… like food or shelter, if you have emotional problems they will know someone you can talk to. The church is a good resource for those in need. There is never a reason to try and go it alone. Hope this helps…. Good luck!

When my older brother and I were teenagers, he had a black lab and I had a yellow lab. We lived in a small farm town. His dog would instigated when we let them out of the kennel in the morning they would takeoff and be gone for a couple days. The town cop came to our house one day and said there is a black lab in the yellow lab killing chickens on farms. we know they’re your dogs if it happens again, you were going to have to pay for the charges. My brother knew that his dog was the one that instigated the running away. so that we didn’t have to lose both dogs he took his dog out to the country and shot her. Turns out he saw the stray black lab and yellow lab out just after he shot his own dog so he shot the yellow lab stray so my dog will never be accused again.
So I got to keep my dog because of my brother’s sacrifice

my ex told me before even if i cheat he would still be with me. coming from someone who is the jealous type (even if i'm just smilinh to my old classmatw or acquaintance i met in public places i honestly even forgit their name but their face is familiar so i just say Hi) that is a shocking revelation from him.
