Why do people associate gaining weight with being in love?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 6 months now and everyone keeps saying that I'm gaining weight and the first thing they ask is "are in a relationship" one person even asked if "I'm pregnant" and one said he realises that "I'm in love".

Why is weight gain associated with being in a relationship?

Hmmm If I had to guess maybe it's because individually you don't pay much attention to how much you eat vs being compared to when you're in a relationship. So like for me personally I can eat once a day, two times MAX. But if I was with a girl and let's say she cooks 3 times a day and asked if I wanted to eat, maybe I eat for a third time a day. Then maybe the next day she's wants to eat out. Or maybe wants to go get icecream or some bullshit. Well now I'm eating more calories as opposed to if I was single, I'd never even consider it, you know what I mean? And I'm not just blaming women or anything it could be the other way around but when you're in a relationship the people in a couple tend to eat together. So now you got two stomachs to feed. What if you guys eat at separate times of the day and one offers the other food? What if one is a good ass cook. You see what I'm getting at though?

In conclusion if I eat once and day and I get a girlfriend and she eats 3 times a day, well now I'm eating more and it equals me eating more and therefore, I'm gaining more weight.

Because couples go out to eat together. And it’s quite common for couples or someone within each couple to put on “relationship weight”
