In your opinion, how much better is it to discuss something important in person, rather than by any other means?

An if you simply do not have to the time or capability to meet up in person, is it better to text, write an old style letter, send a video, or just forget it.

So what I’m getting at is, do you think anything other than ‘talking in person’ _so bad_ that it’s better to say nothing an all?

if you do not think it’s best to do nothing at all if you can’t meet up, what means of communication other than in person, would you choose

I just want to make sure I got this right. You are talking to guy; you have something to important to say but you do not have the time or ability to meet him in person to say it?

If I was a woman... I would forget it and just not waste your or his time. I would just tell him that you're not sure what type of relationship if any you would want to have at this time period, but you need some time to figure it out.

Now as man... if you have something important to say you need to make the time to say it in person, or at least make a phone call and speak to him directly if you want him to take you seriously, and if you cannot do that then don't waste my time.

So, I gave you advice from womans and man's position... why because this how it has played every time a woman has done this to me. I apricated the phone call, or I dismissed her text as a WTF thing? You want to drop important shit on me in text because you don't have the courage to say to me in person, or your busy that you don't really want to be or should be dating because you are wasting everyone's time.

So go back and ask yourself if you really think you are ready to be dating.

Like do you really have the time and ability to make time to really be emotionally and physically present in relationship, right now?

Thats the question that needs to be asked and answered. here.

As a woman should I make myself physically present in a relationship?

Meaning am I truly emotionally ready to be dating, and willing to make time to be present.

Because whatever you need to tell him, I think the answer to this question is the real problem.

I hate texting. If we couldn't meet in person, my next choice would be to talk on the phone or do Facetime or something like that. If the other person was too busy to schedule that, my next choice would be email because I would write it on a keyboard.

I don't use my phone for anything but talking, sending simple texts, and taking photos.

I did not mean to click what I did. Talking face to face is always be preferable (to me) and would most often be the quickest way to deal with things in that way - not finding time, well then that something isn't that important.

However, sometimes communicating face to face can be difficult - so a letter, a video, a text conversation: all a good opener and sometimes a good opener when face to face is hard and a necessity when it's not possibility.

Speaking in perso n is certainly the most effective and reliable form of communications. There are some discussions which are better to have now, even if it can't be in person, and then it is better to do a video call.

It really depends what the subject matter is. If it's something that involves emotions, then it is probably better to talk in person so that the other person can feel your emotions.
... Then again, if the emotions are negative, then it might be better to discuss through written words, so that you do not damage the relationship.
I think it's highly circumstantial. It all depends on what would seem like the most appropriate format for that particular conversation.

It also depends on the personalities and communication styles of the two parties involved. If one or both finds it easier to express themselves through written words -- if they aren't good at extemporaneous speaking -- then it would be much better to have a written exchange. Otherwise they might be thinking something but not be able to express it effectively through speech.

My personal view is that written words are USUALLY the best; however, there are certain cases where face-to-face communication would be the most ideal way of having that particular conversation. And there are other cases where a telephone call (or Internet voice call) would be the most effective and/or efficient method.

All that said, this is the MOST important thing to remember: Always make an appointment. If you want to talk to someone, make sure you get their attention first. And make sure it's a good time for them to talk and they're not busy with something else. This is extremely critical. If this aspect is overlooked, it could doom the entire process.

If you can not speak in person, do video call. If you can't do videocall, do a phone call. If you can't to a phone call, better don't send any message.

Very important matters should never be discussed with text messages.

Numerous studies have shown that in-person conversation is a much more effective means of communicating than almost anything else. There is so much information included in non-verbal behavior, that in person conversations are very superior in most cases. If for whatever reason this is not possible and unfortunately it often is not possible then a video conference I think is the next best thing. Following that email or other forms of writing seem to be very effective, although not as effective as in person. Finally, I think texting is a terrible way to communicate and it can lead to a great deal of miscommunication and trouble. As a result. It is my last choice as a way to communicate with others.
