Its up to your friend to decide what they're gonna do but I think it's always better knowing they will be there rather than finding out.
I don't do parties. But if my friends were to get me to go to one and one of my exes somehow were to attend (even though they're not even in the area in currently living in) I'd just avoid her. She wouldn't want to speak to me anyway. They're the ones who cheated on me after all just because they wanted sex. 🤷🏻♂️ they got what they wanted. What more could they possibly want?
If I were in a new relationship, I think that would be helpful. Seeing this, my wife and I have been a couple for over 20 years, it wouldn't really matter to either of us at this point.

Honestly it is good to know and so he can avoid her.
Less drama and it might ruin the party if they start fighting with each other causing a scene.
My ex would just start a fight for attention and make a big scene so I'd love a heads up but probably won't come if they will be there.
