I think if you are both in the same place emotionally then it’s fine. If you have similar goals for life too. Does he want kids? Does she? Etc. That’s when age might matter somewhat here. Otherwise if you like each other and get along well, go for it!

Yes, I mean I haven’t thought too hard about it but just the fact she's 40 might be a bit of a strain. Maybe she already has them? Maybe he doesn’t care but it’s just one of the things I consider. It’s not that weird for age gaps to exist in relationships.
