Do men ever get over their first love?

Say you had your first love you lived together even or if you had a kid with this person, would you ever/have you ever gotten over the feeling? Were you able to move onto another person and build a larger more true love with another person or is your first love always on your mind?

my friends and I are having a debate whether or not men forget their first love. Many say they don’t and will be married with another woman and their first love truly never leaves their mind they’re in love with another woman. What are your thoughts/experiences?

I mean…I’m well over her, and I’d assume she’s well over me, but I don’t think we’d forget each other. We just grew up and grew apart. Any age with “teen” at the end is real tough if you’re looking for long term. I don’t think I was the same person at even 21 than I was at 18, and that’s only three years, that’s not a long time at all. You can be totally right for each other in that time period, and wrong for each other when you get a little older. You might just want different things, which is what happened with us. I went and loved how I wanted, she went her desired route, and at last contact, she seemed happy, and that makes me very happy to see. I couldn’t give her what she wanted while remaining happy myself. We loved each other intensely in that teenage way, but we just grew up to be better for other people. Certainly no regrets on my end. We learned a lot about relationships and love and all that, and in her case, I think I was a safe bridge to a more stable phase in a life that started out with a lot of chaos. There aren’t a lot of storybook endings in life, you just have to appreciate all the good things that happen, even if they are/were on their way to an eventual end.

The "much happier" would apply MUCH (several "hers") later, but now it doesn't apply at all.

I’ll never forget my first love because she was my first love and a genuinely nice person we didn’t even have a bad breakup. But I’ve been over her for over 10 years.
