I've read this infidelity story before. I'll refer the names as Jane and Tom.
Jane was 19 and Tom was 20 at the time. They've been dating for 8 months or so when she got caught cheating. She cheated with Tom's good friend. Both got caught falling alseep in Tom's house, on his couch in a compromised position with the TV still running, an empty bottle of rum and empty snack bags. They had already finished the deed when Tom arrived. His friend was only in boxers and she dressed up with jeans but only had bra. Alcohol was involved and the cheating went on for nearly 3 months.
Tom somehow forgives that, reconciles and still marries her 5 years later. Jane changed for the better though, by her own admission never cheated again. Then 15 years into their marriage (and 20 years since her cheating took place) and with 3 kids, Tom begins coming home drunk and cheats for other reasons; midlife crisis. Tom briefly fell in love with the other woman, stole some of his wife's money to spend it on his affair, secretly gave his wife's meals to the other woman and was thinking about setting up a trip to France just to be with her for a bit, away from responsiblities, away from the kids, out of reality. Their ages by then are 39 and 40.

Both of them are cheaters. Both of them broke their promises to the other. They are both at fault. Trying to say that one is less at fault than the other is a silly word game. The fact that the female's cheating happened years ago and was forgiven by the male doesn't make it less reprehensible. And it also does not justify the male cheating later.
yeah both are cheaters. Though I imagine the stakes are higher when you cheat on a marriage with 3 kids (the oldest child in the story is 14 years old), with so much to lose vs cheating while you're dating and no kids. The female destroyed her relationship back then but the male destroys his marriage and family.
Guy A murders 3 people, premeditated, cold, calculated, heinous, with total indifference to the value of human life.
Guy B murders 5 people, premeditated, cold, calculated, heinous, with total indifference to the value of human life.
Guy A is a better guy than Guy B? Guy B is worse than Guy A?
They are both mass murderers.
That's an extreme analogy but ok. Yes in that case, both are cold-blooded murderers.
They are obviously both equally guilty. It's astounding (but not surprising) to me that most females have not voted that way in the poll.
Wouldn't Tom be a tragic character? I think he would've never cheated nor disrespected his wife so much (stealing her money and her food to give it to his AP) if she had never cheated when they were boyfriend and girlfriend at the time.
They are both as bad as eachother
In a way, I think they would now be perfect for each other. The female ended up forgiving him too, lol. Looks like she had no other option because acting strict and unforgiving would've made her a total hypocrite.
