If you broke up with him he may not be fully over you and even now hoping there is a chance again.
If he broke up with you there could be a couple different reasons. Like another guy said it may be a ego thing where he thinks you shouldn't be happy and only he was good enough for you. It's possible that he feels bad and he is watching and hoping you find someone yourself. Or it could be something like he thinks you are hotter than his current girlfriend and still likes looking at you. These are just a couple possible reasons.

Could be a jealousy/control thing, but there are also lots of guys out there who are like me, and they don't have any ill will towards their exes and they're just checking up out of curiosity.
I hope all my exes are doing well, and I'll check out their social media from time to time to see how they're doing.
It is quite possible to still have benign interest if it wasn't a bad break up with cheating etc. I was just thinking of an ex yesterday.
