What is secret that you keep from your partner? And why do you keep it a secret?

I am fairly open with everyone I have dated, I have not kept secrets but I have not told them everything unless they asked, mainly as most of it is historical and boring. I think the not telling and not telling if asked are were the secret and not secret divide is. For example I would not mention that I was caught shop lifting to a girlfriend, the reason being I was 11 and it was a typical kids dare to get some sweets from a shop on the way to school. Now if she asked if I had ever been shoplifting I would tell her.

I don't think I keep any from my wife. I have things in the realm of "private" in the sense that I close and lock the bathroom when I go to the toilet but not a "secret" as in something she should know about that I'm keeping from her.

Well, one thing I did keep secret was that my wife had a birthday last month on January. My friends and I wanted to surprise her so we kept that a secret from her and planned it secretly. I kept that a secret since it would ruin the surprise if I told her.

She doesn’t know I occasionally play video games.

She is totally against video games. She sees me doing things when I’m home from work like yard work and building stuff and that is the version of me she knows. However, occasionally I play games on my computer while I’m away for work.

But she pretty much knows my other most embarrassing traits like being a pervert who watches Japanese girl’s professional wrestling on YouTube and stuff. For some reason she is ok with that. Why? I don’t know.

Oh my apologies, I forgot to answer why I keep that a secret. The reason is I read the room. One night, I was talking to her about needing a new computer and we were looking at computers on the line. I said “one with gaming capability would be cool” and she said: “if you become a fat gaming nerd I will cut your dick off”. Luckily she knows nothing about computers so I got a laptop with mild gaming capabilities.
