Are mental abusers just as bad too, even if he never gets physical?

Let's say a woman has been in a relationship for 5 years. He never hit her but if she wanted to leave, his favorite lines were:

''Remember you would have no where to go afterwards. Your parents are dead. You have no real family (then his smirk and laughters begins).''

''You're nothing without me. Remember I'm the best''.

''I can get you fired from your job if I wanted to''.

That's part of what she endured. He wanted to destroy her self-esteem, her reputation and get her in other ways without ever going physical on her. Are those abusers just as bad too?

The woman has been affected and is still not mentally healed yet.

Why does one have to be “just” as bad as the other? Any form of of abuse is wrong when everything is said and done, no need to make a competition of which pain is worse.
