I'd say it's fairly common and just has to do with amount of exposure. Working in the service industry for example, I would have frequent encounters with women with whom there was a mutual attraction. When I had a job with less exposure and not going out in public as much, of course the frequency of these incidents drops.

Also depends how intense you mean "intense" to be. I'd probably drop it to rare (like a dozen times in my life) if you mean the more undeniable connection where you're almost obsessed with each other after a brief interaction. Though on the other hand, ONS often happen because of that really fast intensity. But how meaningful is that? Though I guess you didn't ask about depth or meaning.

I guess I remember a few times back in my 20s, three times, to be exact, where I just started making out with a girl at a party, with little or no prior words spoken. Rare. You have to be very attractive for that to happen. Attractive people can be attracted to norms and norms can be attracted to attractive people. But it seldom happens at the same time. So when an attractive person is attracted to a norm you have a higher likelihood of it being returned than if a norm was was attracted to an attractive person.

You see this all the time on here. Women overestimate thier attractiveness and become lustful over a very attractive guy. But so does a 100 other women! So he'll f*** her. Why? Because he can. But he has a 100 other women to tend to. Then this women feels used and tossed aside. When the reality is he was never in her league to begin with.

This can happen with normal men as well. But women, es p equally women with a lot of options will have much more stringent standards. So the odds of her meeting a normal guy that she's that fiercely drawn to is much smaller.

Yeah with one girl we never fancied each other at the same time. I liked her initially but she wasn't enthusiastic on me. The she changed her mind after I had given up on her. We went through about three cycles of that. Never liking each other at the same time.
