What Is Consciousness?

What is consciousness? This is not a philosophy lecture. I will be theorising and explaining pure science and evidence. With answers and valid theories (hopefully).

Any of you heard of lucid dreaming? If not, I will tell you what it is. Lucid dreaming is the phenomenon where you become aware that you are dreaming within a dream. You are conscious in that dream. Lucid dreaming is recognised by the worldwide scientific community and quite a proportion of people have had lucid dreams, intentionally and unintentionally. The problem lies with the fact that we still don't even properly and conclusively know why we have dreams, of any sort. Science has yet to explain dreaming and what causes lucid dreams. Why do I bring up lucid dreams? I'll explain later. But let me introduce you all another true phenomenon that almost all of you have yet to know about.

It is possible for a human to exit their own physical body. Don't believe me? Research the phenomenon of astral projection, or out-of-body experiences, which is what they are more commonly known. There are people who actually have experienced life outside of their own physical body, primarily people from the spiritual and Buddhist community. Life external from your physical body has no boundaries. The laws of physics don't apply. They see their own body on their bed and they can explore this different dimension (the astral plane), doing whatever they command.

However, this phenomenon isn't completely recognised by the scientific community, presumably because of how miraculous and groundbreaking it is. Most scientists believe that these states of mind can only be achieved by psychedelics and other drugs that do achieve these same visions and hallucinations that are similar. Science works by observation and experimentation. This is difficult for OBEs. But not impossible. There are many reported cases of people subjected to near-death experiences having out-of-body experiences and

seeing their spiritual guides, entities and visions not too far off some religions. I'm not fabricating this. Research all of this for yourself if you still don't trust me.

Anyway, you might be thinking: what connects lucid dreaming and astral projection? Don't you see?

Lucid dreaming is where the consciousness travels in your dreams (thoughts and feelings and inner dimensions of what makes you) when you are in this meditative-like state. Out-of-body experience is when your consciousness travels out of your physical body (the third dimension).

Can't you evaluate from this that consciousness travels and travels through various dimensions and planes of existence and reality, the fore front of what spirituality represents? This is the knowledge of ancient civilisations that were flooded with industrialisation, colonisation, invasion, modernisation, war, migration and culture wipeouts. Their knowledge was drowned out and nearly brought to extinction.

What defines consciousness? Consciousness simply is the awareness that you exist in the present. Complex I know. But just accept it.

Dimensions, you say? What are dimensions?

Essentially, it is a different state of existence in the universe. Here are my theories on what the dimensions are (some of them science already knows):

1D: Existence

2D: Line of existence

3D: Physical object (another physical object is able to interact with)

4D: Time (first theorised by Einstein)

In terms of other dimensions, I have speculated that whatever it may be, it must allow for this so-called spiritual expansion and development.

Whether you acknowledge it or not, every humans has a consciousness/ soul/ astral body (whatever you want to call it) that somehow has the ability to travel. The questions is: how can we differentiate between life and consciousness?

Other enquiries that crops up are:

Do we have an afterlife?

Are we eternal?

Is spirituality real?

Are we all connected with what's around us?

Do we have control over our spiritual future?

I'm so lethargic and sleep deprived at the moment, so I can't elaborate on too much, but what I want to hear from you all is what is your opinion on lucid dreaming, astral projection and anything to do with spirituality and the laws of attraction. Take all of this with an open mind please. I would like to know your theories on this.

Side note: OBEs actually have been scientifically proven to not be a dream and true. Research for yourself. Experiment where these scientists changed this one number in the controlled room after the patient closed his/her eyes to prepare for the OBE and every single astral projector recalled the changed number to be in the room when out of the body, rather than the original number they saw when conscious in their own body.

Isn't consciousness and spirituality fascinating? This keeps me up all day and night. What are your thoughts and theories? I'm tired. Sorry this is so short

Experimentation concerning this field is difficult because near-death experiences happen spontaneously and willingly encountering death at the expense of obtaining results might bring up the moral aspect of such experimentation. I think time has very much to do about this.

Why is time the fourth dimension if we cannot foresee the future nor bring back the past? Does it have to do with it being nowhere of our (humans') control?

People who are extremely spiritual have the potential to do unimaginable and inconceivable things. There is not much evidence for it, though I believe that it is possible for humans to interact with the other dimensions. I believe it will be possible for humans to time travel using spirituality and the laws of attraction to do so. Although, this is extremely far-fetched, I theorise that it can be possible, after researching so much about the ancient civilisations and philosophies. Science claims this to be the foundation of pseudoscience, but I believe we have only scratched the surface of human potential. Pseudoscience gets an extremely bad reputation, primarily because you have ignorant people making a lot of money by deceiving and lying to the public, claiming that they know about the future and astrology. Some "pseudoscience" is real, other "pseudoscience" isn't. An open mind is vital for topics like these. Most can't handle it.

Oh wow. I had to stop on your comments on "astral projections" and "out of body experiences." As if they were real... no, there is a phenomenon where people THINK they are outside their body, but there's no evidence that they actually are, and in fact there have been studies that show they are not.

I've had an out of body experience before when I was on PCP. I saw everything from behind myself, like a third person shooter, but I was not actually behind myself.

What and where is the evidence to justify your reasoning? How can you be certain that you think you are out of your body? Was your OBE accidental?

If you're not awake, then you're not conscious. If you're awake then you are. Why does that take dimensions and philosophy stuff to get?

Being "awake" and being "conscious" are NOT synonyms. They are two different concepts. Being awake is simply a way to describe the knowledge that your eyes are open or that you are alert and interactive to your environment. That's why doctors say that one is conscious if they are still breathing, but not awake. People who experience lucid dreams are conscious (aware that they exist), however, they are not awake. Does that clear up any issues you have? Reply if you are still unsure or want to debate further. :)

How are they not the same thing? If you get knocked unconscious then you're pretty much asleep right? Still breathing since you not dead, just not seeing anything or knowing what's going on after that.

Being "conscious" means that you are aware that you are alive and existing. Being "awake" has different meanings, but the most prominent one is that it means to be interacting and sensing your environment (seeing, touching, thinking...). Research it and I think you will comprehend it then perhaps. I know it's a difficult concept to fathom.

Near death experience has been proven to be caused by drugs. I mean all you have is anecdotes.
