Success Tips I learned from Viktor Franks Mans Search for Meaning - Part 1

Holocaust Survivor and renowned psychiatrist Viktor Frankl created a new form of psychotherapy after his release from the camps called Logo Therapy which is when you treat a mental disorder by giving the mental patient meaning and purpose. Today after a week or so - I completed the first half of his book where Viktor talks about his stay in the Nazi death camp as a victimized Jewish person and begins his ascent back into the physical world as a freed prisoner.

He talks about how becoming accustomed to the joys and pleasures and comforts of every day life was sometimes harder than surrendering to the difficulties of the camps and that some of his fellows had neurosis or behaviour outbreaks after being freed and needed careful remediation to be brought back to their moral and social sensibilities.

From that I learned that when you are revisiting a goal or habit or difficult obstacle for which you previously abandoned or gave up on or stopped - that stepping into the waters of productivity and struggle should be done and can be done on a gradual basis. That if you suddenly free somebody who has been trapped in a cycle for a long time - it may take them months or years or decades to realize they are now free.

This is like a quote I found on a Yale religious website that God removed the Israelites from Egypt in one day but took decades to remove Egypt from the mind of the Israelites. A person newly freed must learn how to walk because it isn't the ability to walk that changes his life but the usability and application of his new skills. So constant innovation and fine tuning of vision along with incremental deposits of change and a refusal to withdraw to old patterns are necessary to foster change and to adapt to new living orientations. This is what I learned from Frankl.
