Do people assume that god is christian?

I had one incident here at GAG, I had a argument about god with a lady, she assumed that I was christian and blocked me.

Actually I am not a Christian, but I felt that there is an assumption that God is christian. Also I felt that people have a low regard for Christianity. Hence they project their grievances of Christianity onto god as whole, without understanding how other religions interpret god. Seems like everyone hates god just because they hate biblical god.

Please help me to understand this assumption and projection.

I think God chooses righteous people and not religious people. A lot of Christians have corrupted themselves by acting like they have a monopoly on God when God cannot be bribed or changed or cheapened.

I can see that non-religious people also seem to assume Christianity has monopoly on god. Although I am little sceptical of religious doctrine but the way of life generated by most surviving religions is far superior than woke culture, liberal ideology, etc.. I respect all religions for that.

I'd say it's because the majority of people here are from Christian countries. The United States certainly is. Additionally, many people in the United States dislike Christians / Christianity because of the way that they insist on forcing their beliefs on others. It would be absolutely the same way if it were Muslims or Hindus trying to force their religious beliefs on others. Except in those cases, you'd also have the Christians complaining. Nobody likes to have things shove to down their throats, but Christians ignore that when they are the ones doing the shoving.

No. People assume God is whatever they "want" him to be. When in fact God is something outside human understanding.
