Could people actually find virtue or good character to be offensive?

I always tried to excel in what I did cause that was how I honoured God and mostly all the people I knew in management who did not benefit from my excellence hated me for trying to glorify God with my high grades and my devout and sincere efforts at work. Meanwhile I know spiritual pigs that want to hog all the honour and praise and recognition and glory for themselves, and they get tons of invitations to lead social events, host parties, give lectures and talks to others, have their work show cased and displayed for others. It's like they hate me cause I try to glorify God but they love egocentric people who try to glorify themselves. Jesus said the same thing, that the arrogant hated those who glorified God but they loved those who glorified themselves cause they could relate to those who tried to glorify themselves.
