For me, I rely on God (my rock) and I always thank God for things. Psalm 55:17. John 3:16.
'Everyone' goes through hard times and some of us, have more hard times than others. John 16:33. God is always here, though. God is amazing and also works through others. Long story short.. something traumatizing happened a long while back, that changed my life completely. I kept losing my Christianity, (someone on this site- a Christian), is selfless, was not judgmental, and really really listened, told me a few times, 'You don't have any peace'. Again long story short, finally, last year, got God's peace back. Anyway, I thanked God and this person. When I pray, am willing to wait patiently on God's timing. Psalm 27:14.
In times of trouble, I try to focus to seek God, first. God brings good out of bad. God will make a way. God fights for me, when I can't fight for myself. Psalm 9:9. Psalm 12:7. God hasn't ever abandoned me.
God will also give me strength when I have none left and I ask for God's wisdom when I need help with other things. {Just like in the book, of Job, in the bible}-- Job, refuses to give up on God, even though he does not understand why this is happening to him. I will Trust God, even though I don't understand. I am a warrior princess. . . 'Strong and courageous'- Joshua 1:9.

God is in the little things, too. I let God take care of me, every day is hard and some days are harder, but, God always picks me up and supplies my needs. I still have my smiles.
