Excellent take! These are the very double standards that lead most men to conclude that Feminism is a movement aimed at securing female hegemony, not equality.

You say you are not a feminist but you actually posted this. Means you actually care about this topic and I could say you make the difference between a true feminist and just one who complains to get advantage.

A feminist is the same thing as an "equalist". Just because of radical feminism and the media you people, especially guys get to tell us the concept is shit. There are some genuine feminists out there who just believe in equality.
@Fromtheotherside Actually no it isn't the same thing. By definition, "feminism is the advocacy of WOMEN'S rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men." Feminism is not the advocacy of HUMAN rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality. This means that by their own definition, they are only concerned with women's issues where they fall behind men, and not about male issues where we fall behind women. They certainly are not advocates for men on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to women.

I too hate these double standards against men
Some countries need feminism like India and many muslim countries. Women are ACTUALLY treated horribly here. The concept of feminism is basically not needed in western countries where women already enjoy a lot of equality and freedom. In the west, it ends up victimizing the already innocent males who don't throw acid on their women's faces, beat women etc.
Feminism is just not needed in the west. The women got all their rights a long time ago.
India doesn't need feminism. It's already enough.

@Punkbuster107 I've volunteer with several feminist organizations including Amnesty International to third world countries in Africa, and to India to help both women AND men. I've risked my life to help people, I've had to go through areas with land mines, civil war, and rampant illness. I've been working for several years with girls and boys who were raped and brutalized in the midst of conflict, child soldiers, trafficked child prostitutes, abused/mutilated child brides. And this privileged little princess is shitting all over my efforts and the efforts of people like me just so she can get a little more male attention. And I'm anonymous so I can speak the truth without pandering for attention or getting direct threats. You can talk when you have comforted a dying 8 year old girl who was doused in gasoline and set on fire by her abusive 49 year old husband just for trying to run terrified back to her mother after her raped her on their "wedding night".
We need more women like you. Holy shit. You're quite a woman. Just know there are people out there that celebrate you for doing so much for humanity. And I found this mytake to not only be upsetting, but completely inaccurate.
@anonymous , with all due respect, I believe @IamNuts is speaking about a different issue entirely - albeit an issue that masquerades under the guise of a term that is still very much needed in this world.
From where im standing, those who insist on spotlighting and bemoaning the plight and objectification of the 1st world, westernized woman deliver a slap in the face to the millions worldwide who suffer and die because their society views them as property.
These are the privileged princesses you are fighting against. Not the people who point out their privilege.

Also I met my husband through my charity work and we worked together in India helping child brides, we are now engaged. But nice try little boy, go throw your tantrum elsewhere.

Not trying to play devil's advocate, but is it bad that most of this stuff doesn't bother me? I don't know maybe I am too old fashioned, but I just think there are more important things to focus on in life. Like me getting a job I like and constantly getting better jobs, my health, love life, family, etc.
It seems to have done women more harm then good in the ladt few years and it not helping them stand up for what they might want there 3.5 billion women in the world they not all after the same thing.
