7 Things I Hate About New Year's Eve

It's not that I don't like this time of the year but there are some things about New Year's Eve that I find particularly annoying... every single year.

1. Choosing an outfit

I am very indecisive and it takes ages for me to pick an outfit I like. I generally don't mind doing so when I have a date or something, but to choose an outfit for an event I don't particularly enjoy is even more annoying.

2. Being forced to help with food and decoration

I hate it when my mom asks me to help her with food preparation, or to set the table, or to take charge of the dining room decoration. I'm not even excited about this social event, why would I even want to bother with all this stuff!

3. Relatives being there only for the food

Some people don't get together to actually celebrate... but to eat all they can eat! After all, it's free, right?

4. Fake optimism about the upcoming year

We always have the childish illusion that the year that's coming will be so much better than the one that's ending, but if you think about it, why would that happen just because the year is NEW?

5. People trying to force me to toast with champagne.

I don't like champagne, OK?! I'd rather raise a cup full of beer, coke, milk, or even coffee. Why does everybody get upset when I decline champagne?

6. Fireworks that sound like bombs

People are excited, fine. But why does it have to sound not as if it's the end of the year, but the end of the WORLD?!

7. Someone throwing up

After all the eating and drinking, there is always at least one person whose stomach ends up rejecting everything they've ingested... and that is generally me lol.

Anyway... another is year is ending and a new one is right around the corner...

So let the countdown begin!

I like drinking sparkling grape juice with my family. And last year, I had a good time at my boyfriend's grandma's house. There were fireworks, and he rode me around on a four wheeler (first time ever, introduced to country life, thug life)

The most aggravating part for me is the onslaught on facebook posts by dramatic people who have to share the new year, new me crap.

I freaking love new years!! It's my favorite holiday. Every year a group of families (mine included) get together and put on a huge party. We invite tons of other families and each family brings 2 dishes (pre-selected) so no one is cooking everything. It's usually from 8pm til 5:30am (at least). I get to see friends that I haven't seen all year and spend the night dancing.

Every year for me IS better than the last. I get older, smarter and I try like hell to make my life better overall. A new year is what you make of it :)

I just think there's too much pressure on NYE. Too much pressure to dress up, go out and find the best party ever. But usually everyone has such high expectations that it ends up flopping.
I'd rather stay in bed and eat ice cream and brownies, but then I'd feel sad for not even trying to be social on the (supposedly) biggest night of the year. 😐

I haven't celebrated New Year for more than a decade now. Like you said, it makes no difference to me, except perhaps mentioning the previous year when I write dates, for the first few days.

I'd rather play video games on my PC or watch a couple of movies at home, nibbling on spicy snacks and sipping on diet soda!

Its fun but loses meaning if you dont spend it with the right people nd not having future goals.

Otherwise its a great milstone to a year ending, having shared moments with people and having accomoplished goals you set the year before,

I typically go out all night with friends.
So the family stuff doesn't concern me.
I like to dress up and fireworks and throwing up standard procedure, I've gotten used to it haha.

Haven't done a NYE party since 1999-2000 ... the biggest anti climax ever !! After all 2000 is just a number anyway. Simply can't be arsed with NYE parties , you are right , they're an overrated anti-climax !!

I love nye!! I find it a fresh breath of air. With Christmas you are stuck with people you hate. Nye you are with friends you like.
