If I love Uber it's probably for the same reason that I do. I love Uber it's probably for the same reason that I do. The drivers are friendly there usually your same age driving a really nice car you have a lot to talk about the car is clean and they get you there quickly.
Or at least that's the way it was before they cut rates. Then I started getting drivers are very dirty car that was old and doesn't speak English. So I started choosing Uber Select which was the nicer newer vehicles and better drivers. Seems like things were back as they should be within these drivers started getting less talkative and upset as well. So I asked what was going on? Give me the company answer. But once they found out that I was actually asking they told me to head to pick up X riders as well that made up the 85% of the trips for have to pay. And often times these riders dirty and disrespected them and their 2014 Acura. During Christmas time one rider even ordered an Uber for a homeless person who said he needed to get to the hospital and needed money for bus fare. How kind I smelt it in her Cadillac three days later.
So now you're bored and wondering why this matters to you? well if you enjoyed it over but notice the drivers are kind of getting worse. It's about to get a lot worse because they used to appeal to as they said students and soccer moms.
they just lowered their rate from
$1.65 a mile to $1.15 a mile and now $0.85 a mile in my city. My company pays me 49 cents a mile when I visit clients and it doesn't cover the depreciation of my vehicle cost so I rent a car any time I have to drive more than 75 miles in a day for work. Uber pays their drivers 85 cents a mile minus Uber's commission which is 20-33%. If you drive a nice car they take 33% plus a flat fee. Uber makes more than their partner drivers on every trip.
For us as riders this simply means the Bad Iber X drivers a get 1 in 3 orders are now the main thing. No English, getting lost and I will smell like his pinto when I get out. It is cheaper than I cab by 70% but smell now. If you take Uber Select you now have to wait longer because most of them aren't drinking anymore because they are forced to pick up X riders like the one doctor in Miami and be called slave names and beaten while losing money.
I take Uber Select, I tip everytime and my drivers are very appreciative but it takes 15-20 minutes to get a Select because there aren't very many anymore. It happened over the course of two weeks. I hate it, I order an X but then I cancel and feel bad because I can just tell his car is going to be dirty. I'm a woman with a lot of long strait moist hair. If I get into a vehicle that smells like mildew or smoke my hair picks it up and the ONLY way to get it out is to wash it. So one night I spent two hours getting ready went out for three hours then had to shower when we got home before bed because my boyfriend said he could still smell it. He was the one that ordered the X. 😡. Now we always take Select.

Nice my take. That sucks that the quality of drivers is declining. I agree cabs are very expensive. The worst is getting in a car that smells like cigarettes and it gets in your clothes and hair and even other weird smels and odors.
Thank you very much for the upvote.
It just sucks in general. I hope someone will respond telling me differently but I take Ubers all of the time. Honestly I heard their complaints and at first thought it was just simply gas prices beings cheaper equaled rate cuts and they didn't like it. That was 9 months ago.
But it is kind of like watching a mass group of people slide into depression. I get the same drivers a lot on Select. Not every week but I live and work centrally and take Uber Select a lot as opposed to driving and parking in the garage.
My favorite one is a law student That honestly just needs he extra money and I found her a gig doing one time a week at the restaurant I worked at in college. I worked there from the opening until I got a real job 3 years later. I knew they always need one extra hand on Saturdays but don't hire one because they can only afford it for one night. She'll make $250 easy in one night.
And my old boss, the chef and owner admitted he thinks it will be good for business like when me and my best friend worked there. It was only us and his family who were mostly from Thailand like him. Don't get me wrong he packs the seats and owns another restaurant downtown.
It's just that being the only person not related to the owners and being relatBle to customers we weren't shy on selling how much we loved his food. He even used to get mad when I'd start a compliment honestly with something like you know your mothers food is the best but take it for granted which is what I do with a, b, c dishes... But then after ordering it and taking a bite I remember why I can't eat it anywhere else.
I'm now self selecting to help transition Uber drivers. These are people that are happy to work for $12 and hour as long as they believe in what they are doing.
I heard weird uber stories. I saw that crazy girl video who beat up the uber driver. Their was another one where a taco bell manager hit one on the head. True I think everybody complains. Cab drivers and uber drivers do complain a lot. I hear others complain about their jobs to.
I agree taking one is way more convient then driving and parking. Driving can be a pain sometimes.
That is good that you helped that girl out. That was very nice and thoughtful of you.:)
That is good about the resturant thing. Your old boss seems nice and that is good that your trying to help uber drivers.
Wow, that went south quickly. Way to go corporate and f**k it up Uber! Well that's what catering to "Shareholder Value" does...
