Though I don't like these kind of days celebrating how you were born (race, gender, number of toes...)...

Happy women's day, keep bringing light and happiness to this world, though many guys won't admit this, or aren't able to see it, we guys need you.

  • In Russian we just say "Поздравляю с 8 мартом" (pronounced Pozdravlyayu s vos mim martom) or "Happy 8th of March" since everyone knows about it from the former Soviet Bloc.

I think I only heard a person say once "Happy International Women's Day"

    • yeah, I saw that it's more common to say that but since the tile is "happy women's day" I did that XD

    • the first one is literally happy women's day, right?

I saw it on google but I found that the phrase I posted is more common, I also saw that they say "happy 8th of march" just like that, so I wasn't sure :/

and thanks for your contribution :) Polish sounds so cool!

    • Yes, it literally means "Happy women's day", both in Polish and Russian.
You can also say "Happy 8th of march", but it's not literal, it roughy translates to "Best wishes for the 8th of March".
      In Russian:
      - Pozdravlyayu tebya s 8 Marta - Поздравляю тебя c 8 марта (in personal form)
      - Pozdravleniya s 8 Marta - Поздравления с 8 марта (in non-personal form)
      - S prazdnikom 8 Marta - с Праздником 8 марта!
      In Polish:
      - Pozdrowienia z okazji 8 marca.
      - Najlepsze życzenia z okazji 8 marca.

    • thanks a lot, that was quite helpful :)

  • I'm sorry, but this is just stupid. SO what? Does this mean that us guys get to treat women like shit for the next 364 days of the year? In my little world in between my ears its always this new thing people made up called women's day... or mothers day or fathers day or whatever.

  • I hate to break it to you but "International women's day" is just more communist pandering. Women like to be taken care of, communists love to pander to women because the idea of the state protecting you and keeping you safe is easy to sell to them.

  • I Like this take :)

I think what people miss is that this day is not so much about celebrating the way you were born, but celebrating the fact that for centuries, women were seen as 'less than' or 'not good enough'. Women were not considered worthy of being granted the same opportunities as men. Just having a vagina meant you were automatically a sheep with no chance of being a leader.

And this day was actually first celebrated as Working Women's Day, then later changed to International Women's Day. So for those who didn't understand I hope they do now. it's the same way that different countries celebrate their independence or whatever fights for rights. this also pays homage to that struggle. Even now there are places in the world where females can be killed for trying to be educated.

So Happy Women's Day to all of us who are privileged enough to even enjoy something like GAG... because of the struggles of many great women and men before us.

    • Women today are less than by far thats why there is now a large portion of the male population that doesn't care about women at all aka fuckboys. I dont get what we are supposed to do with modern women besides pump and dump them, they appear to serve no purpose.

    • @SweedyPie I totally agree! I think another thing worth mentioning is that today is also acknowledging the value that women bring, across all cultures and situations, as opposed to just celebrating a certain role they might have (like Mother's Day). I sent my girlfriend a message today, and I didn't make it necessarily sexual or romantic, I simply thanked her, and all other women, for everything they do to make our world better. It seemed important to simply acknowledge her, as opposed to trying to praise her beauty, or tell her what she means to me... I just told her that I respect her.

    • @winterfox10 Right! I am glad you see the value of what I was saying. Thank you too for being a good enough guy to accept and embrace her and women's' worth as a human beings.
