I love where I live in a valley with only 3 neighbours we can't even see, its beautiful and clean. Recently I went down to the old river bridge I live near and was disgusted as always by the rubbish there. I had been talking to a friend recently about going and doing a rubbish pick up the next time we went into town and I thought well why not here, if I don't the river probably will next it floods and take it eventually to the ocean. So I walked around and collect the rubbish, I didn't have a bag at the time but found a discarded frying pan I used though couldn't carry all I found, from cans, tins, bottles, lids, thong, metal from a chair, i carried what i could back home, a fair 4km walk.

Many of the campers that go there do not keep the area completely clean and often leave stuff half burnt in the fire pits, on top of this some idiots ringbarking the trees for no reason. Campers who come from their cities and their towns, Yet they can't even respect and give little consideration to this natural beauty they come to visit to escape from their other lives in the lands that they have polluted.

So here is a message I had made singing as I picked up peoples trash, to the first line tune of "Look down" out of Les Miserables, while picking up the rubbish.

PICK UP PLEA

Pick up, pick up

Don’t be ‘em tosser mate

And your actions amount to it all

You know what you do is wrong

You’re choices affect everything.

So what I am asking is please just pick up the rubbish where ever you are, put it in the bin, recycle it, reuse it, use things that degrade or don't use as much that don't degrade. If you see someone else rubbish don't just think "oh how awful" or "that should have gone to the bin" or worse "..." nothing, go pick up that other persons trash and do what you have been taught since a kid. So what if its dirty??? Your living in a dirty world because you won't touch what is dirty to make it clean, If you do nothing how can you expect for something to be done? Every action counts.

Thank you so much for that thought, its a good one, i shall keep it. And yes sadly humans are like that, we could be less like that though if we did things that did not damage. Because lots of things spread but not all destroy, some actually are good.

I thought about it a lot.

The only way would be to go back to hunter gather days without fire. As the fire destroys trees and natural habitat of other animals.
We'd have to figure out another way to cook food.

@Warmapplecrumble We don't have to completely cut out things. We could do as the OP said, pick up trash that you see laying around. We could eat less meat and more vegetables in our diets. Stop worrying so much about money and power and start helping each other. Maybe one day. Who knows.

@Warmapplecrumble Haha i know what you mean with getting strange looks, i live on a farm and we use solar, people laugh and say that it means we have to be carful with how much we use, and i laugh back at them and say yeah but we don't pollute the air or pay the bills.

I think we should as a economy stop making plastic stuff.

We should only use items that are easily degradable.

The reason why there is so much trash is because it cannot be broken down for many years.

Just looking at your response and well its not that we should stop making plastic completely, Its that we should be more considerate of how much of it is made to be used once and thrown out. If the plastic object is made well and use for a long time then recycled i see no problem in that. But oh thats right companies now days don't care to make quality only quantity, it just works against it all. sigh.

Some things are unnecessary like why do they need to put vegetables in packaging. All could be loose items.

We have a local creek canyon that draws lots of day-trippers, and they leave their trash all around. Cases of beer bottles, dirty diapers, I could go on. I commented on it on a local forum that the county has to go in there and they haul out 10 tons of trash every year and was called racist for the comment. WTF!!!
