The Gender Imbalance: Why it's rare to see a woman struggling, but not rare to see a man struggle.

This just hit me very recently, but it's quite an eye opener.

The Gender Imbalance: Why it's rare to see a woman struggling, but not rare to see a man struggle.

At least in the United States it suddenly occured to me that it's very rare to see a young woman struggling financially, but it isn't too hard to see a bunch of young men struggling. I thought to myself, 'what's up with that?'

Then I realized: men are expected to take care of women, but women are not expected to take care of men.

So what do we see? Well, for one thing, I think we see a lot of young women get special treatment that young men don't get, including financial support from older men.

When's the last time you saw an older woman reach out to a younger man to offer her financial support to him because he was struggling? Didn't think so. Doesn't happen.

And let's not be candy-asses. We all know part of this dynamic could include a sexual dynamic. Notably, the sugar daddy/sugar baby dynamic. When's the last time you have seen the reverse dynamic? Do older women pay money in exchange for sexual photos and videos from young men? No.

It's quite the realization. The one exception I see to these norms are in the cases of young single mothers: they seem to get about as much sympathy from society as young men do.

What the f*ck.

That's all. ✌
