Are Dutch men unfriendly in general?

I was an exchange student in Amsterdam for 4 months. I am Indian girl by the way. There, girls were pretty friendly and nice. I got at least 6 very good female friends there. Back in India I rarely got along with girls. Because most of girls in my school were catty and judgmental. In Amsterdam, experience was totally opposite. However guys in my host school came off as kind of unfriendly. Even if I approached them, they often didn't seem interested. I made no guy friend there at all. I usually get along well with guys (I am more comfortable with guys, than girls) . I don't why it happened. I wonder if Dutch men are unfriendly in general, compared to their female counterparts. Or maybe it's just guys in my host school? Is it possible that there's some
othother reason for this?
PS-I don't wanna stereotype, it's what I experienced.

The Dutch have a reputation for being arrogant and obnoxious, but if you ask someone who is Dutch they will blame the Frieslanders. I do not think that the Dutch set out to be obnoxious. I think that the normal mode of communication among the Dutch can seem to be abrupt and arrogant to people of other cultures, which communication is less direct and more polite.
The same can be said of the French, especially toward English speakers. The French will blame the Parisians. While I think that with the French many of them believe that they are culturally superior to everyone else, the main problem is that normal modes of communication in that culture lose something in translation when dealing with people of other cultures and as a result they can appear to be obnoxious.

Some are noisy, but not aggressive... until you meet drunken soccer fans. Then it's time to hide, run away and call the cops.

Well, some guys are pretty unfriendly, but others are really friendly.
Secondary school, most guys were unfriendly, but only like 5 guys who were.
Primary school like 98% of my friends were guys.
Now, some guys i REALLY don't like, but i get along with most =)

@findingdreamland, even girls can be mean and rude. I also met plenty of those girls.
With Game Artist study however, we got like class of 26 or 28 people (incl. me) and there are like 4 other girls. (one isn't that nice though) and most of the guys are really nice, just a few that are mean.

It's not about that. That is just the culture. people take longer to warm up if you're a foreigner. And plus they have had a large surge of immigrants living in their land for the last decade. They probably feel indifferent about them.

They are just generally cold. It is not because of you. It is what it is. It takes them to adapt you. I say just ignore rude behaviors and have fun with those are friendly and approach you.
